Hi,

im just wondering how long you all waited for your results for endoscopy biopsy? I rang the lab today and apparently they have already been sent to my gp! That seems really quick to me!

Also what were your symptoms?

i went gluten free about 10 years ago. Was having stomach issues. Did every test but the endoscopy (I chickened out). Fast forward stomach issues returned. So return for a bunch of tests. Got diagnosed with Hashimotos. So Doc recommended confirming celiac. Gluten challenged. Omg that really sucked! Crippling pain, tired all the time. Toilet drama, I looked pregnant, so much so that people actually asked! So bloated!

Gong to Gp tomorrow...

My biopsy results came very quickly, I think 2 or 3 days.

Can I ask if it was positive for celiac?

RMJ Mentor

Yes, it was.

There  are over 200 symptoms that are attributed to celiac disease.  Some experience many of those symptoms and some NONE at all.  Factor in the fact that these symptoms overlap with many other illinesses and you can see why symptoms can not diagnose celiac disease.  Best to get tested for antibodies.  How long was your challenge?  Experts recommend 8 to 12 weeks for the blood tests and 2 to 4 weeks for the endoscopy.

You have Hashimoto’s, so celiac disease is possible.  Ten years of being gluten free should in theory mean a healed gut.    Maybe your current symptoms are related to Hashimoto’s or a new autoimmune issue.  That is what happened to me.  I am diagnosed with celiac disease, went on a gluten free diet.  I have a healed small intestine 5 years later as confirmed by a  recent endoscopy/biopsies.  I started having stomach issues and though I was  getting exposed to gluten.  Nope, my endoscopy results proved that theory was wrong.  The endoscopy did catch autoimmune gastritis.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
