Out of no where I started getting really sick after eating in 2013. I was at a good 120 lbs. and I lost 20 lbs. within a couple of months. After that I never had appetite to eat, always had headaches, basically I have felt ill everyday since then and it was getting worse. In November 2017 after going to many doctors and being told there was nothing wrong with me, I was "normal", I was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease and was told I should start feeling better and gaining weight after I start my gluten free diet. Being gluten free has made my stomach pains go away but everything else is still there. I'm still VERY weak all the time, I just want to sleep ALL the time, haven't gained any weight weighing 100 lbs, still no appetite.

How long does it usually take for all of these symptoms to go away? Should I still be feeling this way after so long? I'm really tired of feeling this way and wonder if I'm still doing something wrong.

I went to a atkins/Keto diet, and body build...despite the celiac. I use the high fat diet using nut butters, avocado, eggs, dark leafy greens, cocoa nibs, baked goods made with nut flours and coconut oil and tones of vegan protein powders (I can not eat meat as I do not digest them well) I found certain supplements help preserve muscle mass like BCAAs, and good balanced proteins high in zinc, iron, magnesium like Pumpkin seed protein found at best pricing by Jarrow on Luckyvitamin or order Julian Bakery peagan blends with pumpkin like the cinnamon twist and using it between meals , before bed, and after workouts.

Generally fixing a good high fat no sugar shake with say coconut yogurt/milk, almond butter, pumpkin protein, and other vegan blends mixed in and drinking throughout the day will help build up mass. Avoiding sugars will help insure you build up more muscle while working out and less fat.

Powders I use are Jarrow Pumpkin, Julian Bakeryg Pegan unflavored(sancha inchiseed), and the cinnamon twist, and Naked Pea, I use these and blend my own.

IF you want preblends look at HPN Supplements (BEST flavored vegan protein powders I have found,  MRM Veggie Elite (great balance), NutraKey V-Pro. Again just add to a shake and sip throughout the day.

I am sorry that you are unwell.  It can take over a year to recover from celiac disease depending on your intestinal damage.  The diet is tough to master, you could have additional intolerances or other concurrent illnesses, and it takes time to heal.  You should receive follow-up care.  Get your antibodies retested.  This will help to see if you are adhering to the gluten free diet.  Find out if you are deficient in vitamins and minerals.  You might consider digestive enzymes for a while.

But first work with your GI and get retested.  Rule out celiac disease as the cause of your current problems.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
