Ennis-TX Grand Master

Figured I would start this thread, if you stop at a gas station give the name, road, town, and state. List foods you found safe.
Chains tend to stock the same things regionally in each store so it can give some ideas to travelers.

RaceTrack, 287 Waxahachie Texas.- This was interesting I found Epic Jerky, Rythem Foods Kale Chips, Wonderful Pistachios, David's Sunflower Seeds, David's Pumpkin Seeds, Lays Chips, Quest Bars, Krave Jerky, Late July Corn Chips, RX Bars, Emmy's Organic Cookies, Bare banana and coconut chips, Epic Brand Pork Rinds, Blue Diamond Nut Thin crackers, canned chicken, canned tuna, peanut butter.
They also had Plain Fruit Cups, Fruit, and prepackaged hard boiled eggs.

Quick Trip  I-45 Hutchins, Texas
Only had Fresh Fruit,  Lays, RX Bars, Quest Bars, off brand jerky labeled gluten free, canned chicken breast, Jiff Peanut Butter, David's Sunflower Seeds, and Wonderful Pistachios

Valero, Ennis Ave, Ennis Texas
Hard boiled eggs, eggs, Fresh whole Fruit, David's Sunflower Seeds, David's Pumpkin Seeds, Wonderful Pistachios, Lays, Jiff peanut butter, tuna pouches.

There are probably too many GF snacks now to keep track of, which is good news for us!

I'm so sorry you're going through this—the "gluten challenge" is notoriously brutal, and it's awful to deliberately make yourself sick when you've already found the answer. For the joint pain, many people find that over-the-counter anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen can help take the edge off, and using heating pads or warm baths can provide some direct relief for the aches. For the digestive misery, stick to simple, easy-to-digest foods (like plain rice, bananas, and bone broth) and drink plenty of water and electrolytes to stay hydrated. It feels like the longest month ever, but you are doing the right thing to get a clear diagnosis, which can be crucial for your long-term health and getting the proper care. Hang in there; you can get through this! This article, and the comments below it, may be helpful:

Daura Damm (a sponsor here) uses AN-PEP enzymes and filtering in their brewing process to reduce/remove gluten, and it actually tests below 10ppm (I've see a document where they claim 5ppm).

This topic has come up before on this forum and has been researched. No GMO wheat, barley and rye are commercially available in the USA. Any modifications are from hybridization, not laboratory genetic modification. Better toleration of wheat, barley and rye products in other countries is thought to be due to use of heirloom varieties of these cereal grains as opposed to the hybrids used in the USA which contain much larger amounts of gluten.

Welcome to the forum @Ceekay! If you have celiac disease then you can't eat wheat in other countries because it would still contain gliadin, the harmful part of the grain. Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease?

I can eat wheat products safely and without discomfort when traveling to Mexico, Outer Mongolia, and Japan. I feel that US wheat, barley, and rye are grown from genetically-modified seeds that have had something unhealthy done to them, that causes a bad reaction in many of us.
