I have found 4 different grocery stores in my area now that carry gluten free food, no more shopping at the health food store for us!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gluten free waffles for cheaper than the gluten-full counterparts, gluten free cake mixes, even gluten free bread at under $4 a loaf. I am so excited, it seems that gluten free really is going mainstream, at least here anyway.

I found out from one of the managers at one of the stores that if you can get them a name brand and upc that most of the time stores will stock whatever you want. I thought that this was wonderful information that I should pass along, we all know that shopping gluten free can be a hassle, think how much easier it would be if we could all get our favorite gluten free food at the regular grocery store :D

I know that the diet is expensive, I was just thinking since the mark-up doesn't seem to be so high, that maybe some of you could scout out your own local stores and ask for some gluten free stuff, believe me it's worth the time.

Hi, where do you live? At my local A&P and ShopRite, there are a lot of Gluten Free items in stock on a regualr basis. It's really great!

I just discovered that Stop & Shop has a good variety of gluten-free items in their health food section.

Isn't it exciting to find gluten-free food in the grocery store!!!

I always have to just "look" at the gluten-free section even if I'm not buying anything. You never know they might be carrying something new. ;)

I'm pretty lucky in that alot of stores around me carry gluten-free foods plus theres one store that is pretty much ALL gluten-free....they have just about everything.

Now if I could just get the grocery store where I work to carry something...anything gluten-free...that would be GREAT. I work for a major grocery chain and they look at me like I have 4 heads when I ask about getting some gluten-free foods.

Rachel:

You should print out a copy of the following article and bring it into the store you work at:

Maybe that will change their minds.....

Hugs.

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
