Jhona, Yes I have the same reaction to gluten and also to nightshade veggies (ie: potatoes, tapioca).  Pain is a burning in right flank, side under rib cage and above hip.  I'm investigating symptoms of fibromyalgia as well.

Thank you for our response.

I am sorry you had a gluten exposure and your celiac disease is flaring.  My coping tips are drinking water and consuming mushy, easy-to-digest foods because anything hurts  to digest.  It can take me a month or longer to recover. The last time I had a gluten exposure, I developed chronic autoimmune hives and had gastric issues that would not resolve. I even went on the Fasano diet (super strict gluten-free).  Finally, my GI convinced me to get an endoscopy again.  Found a healed small intestine, but was diagnosed with Chronic Autoimmune Gastritis.  I learned that not everything is due to celiac disease.  You might even get your gallbladder checked if you do not recover soon.

YES!!  That’s where my pain is, although much less frequent than ever before. A recent EDG showed peptic duodenitis, hiatal hernia and esophagitis - for no apparent reason. I started intense bone broth and collagen consumption the first week of September 2019. This has allowed significant healing of my GI, I regained some weight and reduced pain I’ve had for decades. I was diagnosed 25 years ago and never had resolution of watery stool or that RUQ stomach pain. SIBO can also cause that type of pain, especially after eating.

I highly recommend that you research the health benefits of bone broth and collagen to see if it fits your needs. My celiac sister and my father with Crohns also utilize bone broth and collagen for healthier GI. We use kettle and fire, and I satisfy my sweet tooth with Dr. Axe chocolate mixes.

I hope you feel better soon.

I'm also coping with getting glutened and find depression/exhaustion u happy companions! My worst pain is in the lower left abdomen, but it started in upper R back... Dr Axe bone broth helps and I drink vitamin water (Beyond Tangy) + need a prescribed bowel relaxer. Are you consuming  a decent amount of salt? It helps. Heating pad and couch relieve pain, but not going to work is not an option. Have you tried CBD or medical cannabis? It's also soooo hard to explain, isn't it?

I have precisely those exact same symptoms. Sometimes it feels like the pain is coming from my rib bones in that very quadrant. The pain/discomfort comes and goes.

I cannot remember a specific dosing incident. I have many other ailments in addition to celiac-gluten sensitivity.

Yes, the upper right just under the rib is where I get it too when I get glutened.

One thing that seems to help me recover is to avoid processed foods and do intermittent fasting  for a couple weeks. Processed foods can cause inflammation in the gut, intermittent fasting helps reduce stress on the GI tract by giving it a rest for 16hrs a day.

The deep radiating internal pain is crazy hard to describe! I'm increasing magnesium today and it's definitely helping. I've got to give up figuring out how I was glutened (grrr) and focus on eating extremely simple food. I hope the new gut-healing powder drink I ordered won't be a waste of $$$ - it has colostrum from an organic no grain farm!

Hey guys!  I just want to repeat that if you have had a celiac disease diagnosis or have been gluten free for a few years, your symptoms may not just be due to gluten exposures.  You can develop additional illnesses.  You should follow-up with your doctor like NNowak did.

I had GERD-like symptoms after a gluten exposure made worse by a tooth infection, the flu and a cold within weeks of each other.  A repeat endoscopy found Chronic Autoimmune Gastritis and a polyp that were not there when I was diagnosed with celiac disease six years ago.   My small intestine had completely healed.   I drove myself crazy thinking that gluten was lurking everywhere.  Now, I can relax!

And not to scare you, but a much beloved forum member died a few years ago.  She had lymphoma.   ?

Please get checked!  If you are newly diagnosed (less than a year), then keep moving forward.  The gluten-free diet has a steep learning curve and healing takes time.

I was diagnosed with microscopic colitis and celiac a couple of years ago.  The GI doctor prescribed a course of budesonide, which moderately helped until I tapered off.    After a lot of ups and downs over the course of 2 years, I am finally in microscopic colitis remission.  Since I am also diabetic, I was started on metformin and Jardiance.  Metformin by itself helped moderately.  I added Jardiance and I was much better.  I stopped the metformin and relapsed and when I added it back, I regained remission.  I think metformin and Jardiance helped my colitis because they reduce inflammation in the gut.  Metformin is known to favorably modulate the gut microbiome and reduce inflammatory cytokines.  Similarly, emerging evidence supports the anti-inflammatory properties of SGLT2 inhibitors like Jardiance.  Once I was on both, the diarrhea stopped completely, even though nothing else ever worked long-term.  There is a Facebook group that can be very informative and helpful.  Look for "Microscopic Colitis and Lymphocytic Colitis Support Group.  You will find that members of the Facebook group identify other pathways to remission of microscopic colitis.

Hello, @Mrs Wolfe, I crushed three vertebrae moving a chest of drawers.  I take a combination of Thiamine Vitamin B1, Vitamin B12, and Pyridoxine B6.  Together these vitamins have an analgesic effect.  I think it works better than OTC pain relievers.   I also like  "Takeda ALINAMIN EX Plus Vitamin B1 B6 B12 Health Supplementary from Japan 120 Tablets" .   It's all three vitamins together in one pill.  Works wonderfully!

It's the Potassium Iodide in the HRT pills that is triggering Dermatitis Herpetiformis and the increased IGG levels.   The thyroid is stimulated by the Potassium Iodide, which stimulates immune cells to make more IGG antibodies.   Thiamine Vitamin B1 helps the thyroid function.  I like Benfotiamine and TTFD Thiamax.
