Hi all,

Having been vegan (and poor) for many years I developed an intolerance for wheat. I gave up entirely three weeks back and my skin is clearing, higher energy levels, clarity of thought etc...BUT every morning I wake up with the feeling that I have been kicked in the head and beaten black and blue. It amounts to a two hour hangover every day.

I eat well-no processed food, no dairy, no additives-and my daily diet includes foods which cover all I need nutritionally.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through these symptoms and if so how long did they last?

Thanks in advance.

I def. went through some kind of withdrawal symptoms after going completely gluten-free... I think the worst of it lasted only about a week or two... can't remember exactly now, it's been almost 3 years.

I definately had a period of time where I felt like a wet dishrag--fatigue, and a general feeling of being unwell. I think it was part of the healing process. I just posted this in another thread, but I began to feel better by the 4th. month. I would give it a bit more time :)

Thanks guys! Just needed to know that the light I can see is the end of the tunnel and not an oncoming train!

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Same day which is strange to me.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
