Once in a while, and for me it is typically if I eat certain foods that give me issues, like chicken eggs. Before I was diagnosed the primary area I had pain was in my right side.

The usual thing to do is to re-check your diet and be sure it's 100% gluten-free. This article indicates that 90% of those on GF diets are still getting contamination:

Besides checking your diet (consider trialing the Fasano gluten-free Diet), you might want to get your celiac antibodies re-checked.  This can help determine if gluten is the culprit.

I thought for sure Gluten was getting into my diet (I did trial the Fasano diet), but a repeat endoscopy revealed a healed small intestine.  However,  I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Gastritis.  You can develop more than one  autoimmune disorder.

Your pancreas and spleen are in the ULQ.  Some Celiacs have problems with their pancreas.

And the descending colon starts over there, too.  I have had diverticulitis and that's where my pain started, ULQ.

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause the intestinal tract to not work properly.

Hope you feel better!

Thank you for the advice. I’ve actually never checked for nutritional deficiencies, but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always taken vitamin and mineral supplements — otherwise my symptoms get worse. This week I stopped eating gluten to confirm whether my symptoms are really caused by it. Starting next week, I’ll reintroduce gluten — it’s sad to go back to how I was before — but at least I’ll be able to take the necessary tests properly. I think the diagnostic process will be long, but at least I’m happy that I finally decided to address this doubt I’ve had for years.

Hey Julie! I was in a similar situation before my biopsy and my gastro said Tylenol was fine. Just avoid ibuprofen or anything anti-inflammatory until you're cleared. Hope your surgery goes smoothly!

I don't see how cornstarch could alter the test results. Where did you read that?

For pain relief I take a combination of Thiamine (Benfotiamine), Pyridoxine B 6, and Cobalamine B12.  The combination of these three vitamins has analgesic effects.  I have back pain and this really works.  The B vitamins are water soluble and easily excreted.   Hope this helps!  Keep us posted on your results!
