Hey Guys,

I have posted here in a while. So recently my sister was diagnosed with Celiac. My issues have been on going for years. Brain fog, anxiety, ups and downs mentally, stomach issues (mainly alternating between constipation and diarrhea), skin boils, can't lose weight, hypothroidism. Anyways over the past 3 years I get this rash occasionally on my elbow. I had the blood test done twice maybe 10 years ago and it came back negative. I am thinking of getting the test again. I have attached pictures of the elbow rash. Perhaps someone can tell me if it looks like DH. The rash is only on one arm and comes and goes. It is not always there. When it is there it is itchy, the it scabs over and heals.

It could be DH.  Hard to say based on a photo.    Best to get it biopsied by a celiac-savvy dermatologist.  (Make sure they biopsy correctly.) If you get retested (blood test), make sure you get the complete panel.  Know that some celiacs are seronegative.  In that case, intestinal or skin biopsies are needed.  You have a sister who has celiac.  Your chances are 44% based on a recent study from Mayo Clinic.

What kind of hypothyroidism?  Did they check your thyroid antibodies to see if the root cause is autoimmune?  While could or could not have celiac diseases you could have some other form of autoimmune or both.  I was diagnosed first with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis long before they finally caught my celiac disease.

Welcome to the forum, @Mpanknin! Questions like that really have no definite answer. Even if you tested a container of it for gluten content, the test results would only be good for that production batch. Assume it has some degree of CC. A more important question might be, how sensitive are you to minor amounts of gluten exposure?

I have Celiac, and I just found out that HCTZ has gluten in it, and also makes you severely constipated versus diarrrhea!!  I need another medicene for blood pressure that is certified gluten free, without the 20 ppm, and doesn't cause constipation, please!!

Thanks Wheatwacked. My D is normal. I take B12, B6, and a bone health supplement (I'm 67) that has K1, Calcium, Magnesium, and a bunch of other things. But no thiamine. But I will have my doc add it to my next blood draw. Thanks for the info WW!

Wondering if this is gluten free or not. The only ingredients show garlic. Nothing about where it's processed if there's cross-contamination etc. Anybody know?

@jeffpine, please realize that GliadinX is not designed to allow you to eat large amounts of gluten without celiac repercussions. It is designed to counteract cross contamination situations where you might be exposed to small amounts of gluten accidentally such as you might get in a restaurant when you order something that should be gluten free but it is cooked on the same grill with stuff that has wheat. Also remember that the absence of noticeable uncomfortable reactions doesn't necessarily equate to no damage happening to the small bowel lining.
