How Often Do I Need To Go To Gi?

I was orginally DX in October 2005. I have been gluten free ever since then. I was DX in a hospital ER by the attending doc first. My GI kept sending me home on a low fat diet. Finally they all agreed it was celiacs and my biopsy came back positive. Now its March and I refuse to go back to the GI that I was originally with. He sent me home from the hospital with D and vomiting. He did this twice. He refused to believe that there was anything more wrong. He said that there is nothing more that we can do for you. So now I need to know what step is next. I am feeling ok. Not the greatest, but without a doubt better than before. What should I do?

Tinkerbell--If you feel that you want further testing sometime in the future to monitor your healing progress, you could find another GI that already treats Celiacs. But you really don't need a doctor for this, in my opinion. You have been diagnosed with Celiac--and the only treatment for it is the gluten-free diet. I have gone for 2 follow-up visits--at 2 and 6 months post dx. Both times, I was with the doctor less than 5 minutes. Of course, it's up to you :)

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
