I am alittle confused on the status of white vinegar. Is it gluten free after it is distilled or not at all? Does anyone know? I have heinz white vinegar.

the current theory is that the gluten proteins are too big and are filtered out during the distiallation process. I've used grain based distilled items and haven't had problems. You could always switch to cider vinegar.

Jackie, white vinegar used to be on the no list as a percentage of it is wheat derived. Annette, is correct in her response, yet some celiacs still react to the white vinegar. It is suggested we each do a trial on it and decid for ourselves. I react to white vinegar what a blessing for those whom do not. Health

additionally, most *white vinegar* isn't made from wheat anyway, but corn.

not that some people don't have issues with vinegar itself, of course.

Heinz distilled vinegar is fine as it is derived from corn. It is the only one I use. I am one of those who are sensitive to distilled gluten grains in vinegar and alcohol. I always check it distilled vinegar is listed as an ingredient.

Old thread but I recently started using apple cider vinegar because white vinegar makes me incredibly itchy (mostly on my upper arm area) within seconds upon consuming it. It's impossible to ignore the itching as it occurs immediately so I am absolutely certain that white vinegar is the culprit. Always be your own advocate, even if the label says it's safe.

For instance, I thought I could eat halvah because it was a dessert that supposedly does not contain wheat flour and milk, and because it is the only type of processed dessert I can have as someone that's living with celiac here. How wrong were I. As soon as I eat more than three spoons of it at once, I get the usual pain below my right rib-cage immediately (probably the gallbladder).

Follow the instructions to eating gluten-free but listen to your own body too!

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
