Indian food is my favorite I make it myself so I know what I'm adding.  Wegmans brand Indian jar mixes are gluten free if u choose to make your own.  alot of there brand products salad dressings,  Chinese sauces and Indian are all gluten free I love that store for this reason.   The picture below is a spice the Indians use in alot of there dishes the first ingredients is Wheat

just noticed that.  I'm not sure of the brand I know when I go to an Indian supermarket which I do often I look on their labels and the first ingredients is always wheat.   This picture I just googled the name Asafetida as I know it if this is labeled gluten friendly then that is  a good thing I will check it out on line to see the ingredient label.   thank you for noticing that I didn't see it said that.

I just looked it up and it is gluten free.  I never see this I just ordered it on Amazon.. Thank you I'm beyond excited.   Still not safe to eat Indian food out I'm sure they dont uses this brand.  I picked that picture out randomly.  now I'm glad I did.

The more authentic the Mexican food the safer it is. Most of the food is corn-masa based -no flour.

this spice afetida is used in almost everything cooked in Indian food.   Its first ingredients is Wheat, this picture is of a gluten free brand that just came out.   I used to eat Indian food a couple of times a week but have not gone out to a restaurant to eat in years,   I learned to make my own not using afetida although it is in alot there spices U have to read all the labels.   Im going to buy this one pictured below, and hope it doesn't affect me.

I agree with @trents and wiping down the spot you eat your lunch, and eating the food your brought from home should be safe for even sensitive celiacs. Gluten can jump on your food, so it would likely better better for you to continue eating where you prefer.

I would think that as long as you keep your food on a wrapper or on a paper plate you would not be at risk for cross contamination. You may be overthinking it all which is common for those in the first year of the celiac journey. But let me ask you. Are you feeling self-conscious about having a celiac diagnosis? I notice the term "isolated" in your thread title. Do you fear being shunned? I offer this video clip for your consideration:

I’m worried about cross contamination, as people don’t clear up properly. I take my own lunch in a packed lunch box with my own cutlery, plate etc and wash it all at home everyday rather than using the schools communal options. There is always crumbs or food left out for us to share on tables etc.

Welcome to the forum, @Tanya177! Help us understand why you don't eat with the other staff members at the present time. I'm assuming you already pack your own lunch rather than eating school cafeteria food. Surely there are other staffers who bring their own lunches. How would this be different if you did not have celiac disease?
