Puzzles without gluten in the adhesives/cardboard

Hello,

I've been a diagnosed Celiac for 9 years now. I lived with it most of my life before the diagnosis at 41. As time goes on, I am more and more reactive to any gluten around me. I haven't been able to go into a bakery or pizza shop for many years. Our family has become fully gluten free just in the last year, and this has helped my health actually remarkably.

I got a Ravensburger puzzle for the Christmas season for the family to solve. I had 2 extreme sneezing episodes from the puzzle. I wrote the Ravensburger puzzle company asking about any gluten in their puzzle production including adhesives. The first response talked about the cardboard and how there shouldn't be gluten in cardboard. I wrote them again asking specifically about adhesives. The 2nd response 100% refused to answer my question stating they have a secret recipe and will not disclose their ingredients. Therefore, I will not do their puzzles again!

I also received a puzzle for Christmas from Buffalo games and puzzles. I just wrote them inquiring about their puzzles. I have not received an answer yet.

Has anyone found a puzzle company that does not use gluten in their production of their puzzles?  I would greatly appreciate any answers!

Joycie

It certainly possible that gluten could be used in the glues used to make puzzles, but in most cases this should not be an issue for most people with celiac disease, as you're not eating the pieces. It's also possible that very sensitive people might have an issue, especially those with an allergy. Normally washing your hands after doing the puzzle should remove any risks for those with celiac disease.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
