I am giving a baby shower with a friend this weekend where another Celiac will be attending. I know she will want to eat the 7-layer dip my friend is making, but I want to make sure its safe. Read e-mail below from my friend….any one know if Kroger sour cream or shredded cheeses are gluten-free? I've cked on the other ingredients already. Thanks!!!

The sour cream is Kroger brand, all natural, no added ingredients (cream, non-fat milk, enzymes). The cheese is Kroger, too, and it has milk, potato starch, annotto (coloring), and cellulose powder.

We have not had any problems with teh Kroger Cheeses. I personal do not like sour cream so I would not know. You can call kroger's 1800 number durring the middle of the day and get to a live dietiatian that can look up specific product and tell you its gluten status : 1-866-221-4141

We have found that most Kroger products are reasonably safe save the odvious ones like bread :)

You can make 100 percent sure if you want by calling the Kroger 800 number, but I'm absolutely sure the sour cream is gluten-free. I don't use pre-shredded cheese but as you can see they use potato starch and cellulose to keep it from clumping. I personally would eat it without even calling but as there's somebody else involved, you should double check.

I've never had a problem with either one.

GliadinX is such a product and many/some report it really helps. In the interest of disclosure, the company that produces it is one of our sponsors.

Occasionally eating out in restaurants means that there is potential cross contamination in spite of ordering a gluten free dish. What enzyme supplements can the forum recommend that would help with potential cross contamination? Something I could take before I start eating. I used to order Wheat Rescue from Microbiome lab, but it is not available anymore.

Hi  - Anyone have any experience with these? I bought them at Costco thinking they must be gluten-free, but now I see Natural Flavors and Spice in the ingredients. There's no Gluten Free labeling. However the Costco site and two other sites say it's gluten free. Anyone know?

Yes, I doubt you can find a perfectly safe restaurant--perhaps a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, but in general, very few of them exist, and they tend to be in larger cities. Super sensitive celiacs should probably just avoid eating out.
