Pei Wei

Pei Wei is a small diner owned by PF Changs. There are seventy five or so of these restaurants and they have several gluten free items available on a special menu. What impressed me about this place, was that they seemed so knowledgable and careful with my order. For example, they said my chicken could be completely plain, or they could toss it in potato starch to give it a little breading. I have eaten at the local Pei Wei three times without any problem. I have much better luck there than at PF Changs! Has anyone else ever tried them?

Yum! I love it! I sort of actually forgot about it though.. I haven't been in a few months but they have always been great about the service and my needs I LOVE THE CHICKEN! PF Changs is luckily always pretty trust worthy thus far, I feel better about it when the server brings it to the table and lets me know it is Gluten free without asking!

It is where I ALWAYS meet my girl friends for lunch. I have the sweat and sour shrimp with white rice. It is so yummy.

I love the sweet and sour chicken.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.
