Glutened And Feeling Down

Hi,

I got glutened sometime this weekend. I still don't know for sure what caused it. Maybe gorgonzola cheese I had on Friday, or shrimp scampi, or chips. Who knows? On Sunday I had "d", that stopped after a few hours. The rest of the day I felt totally exhausted. Today I feel tired, anxious and depressed. It also seems like whatever I eat today I don't feel full. Does this sound like a case of being glutened?

Thanks!!!

It certainly sounds like you could have been glutened. After gettting glutened I try to get some rest (easier said than done), drink lots of water and take Immodium AD for the D. Hope you feel better soon.

If I feel that my intestines have been irritated, I usually take a coupe of pepperment oil pills.

They sooth the stomach and reduce inflammation.

Hi Mindy--that sounds like what happens to me when I've been glutened! I had anxiety and depression before I was diagnosed, and when I get glutened now, it comes back for a few days. Try to get as much rest as you can, drink plenty of pure water, and eat when you feel like it. It will pass :)

I posted a similar thread this morning! Sorry, I should have just come here! I feel exactly the same way every time I get gluten. I don't know why I fell depressed and anxious with gluten, but I do for a couple of days after the physical symptoms pass.

Drink alot of water. It helps flush your system. I know it passes! Feel better!

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
