The supplements are expensive, but probably not as expensive as IVs and antibiotics, lol.

Except the antibiotics are covered by insurance. :) I don't see why you would need IV's if I don't. My doc doesn't typically do IV's. I think they're a red flag to the insurance company, so I'd bet a lot of LLMD's try orals first.

I pay either $10 or $25 (if it's not generic) per medicine.

It would be nice if yours was knocked down enough to not need conventional medicine, but don't be disappointed if it does. If it's your primary problem, then you might need it.

I'll look forward to seeing your Western Blot. Any way you can have that done prior to your LLMD appt? That save me a lot of time by having that done while I was waiting.

Oh yah, the insurance thing...okay, maybe antibiotics aren't the worst thing that could happen. Still hoping it isn't necessary though. Some of those rounds of antibiotics I was on were for 30 days at a time and one of the last ones was 60 days. At the very end I was taking 4000 mg per day of augmentin!

:o Look at my antibiotic history:

May 2002 Augmentin 875, Prednisone

:o I think I may have dodged a bullet today, lol. I can't do a search right now cuz I'm downloading an update from McAfee which is going to take 2 hours...can you say SLOW computer, lol. Did we talk about tetinus shots on this thread, or was it just other types of shots. Anyway, my doctor did the exam and asked when was the last time I had a tetinus shot. I couldn't remember so she wanted to give me one today. I don't know whether she forgot to write it on the lab slip or the lab just didn't see it, but I totally forgot and didn't remember until I got home. One I remembered, I suddenly had the thought about thimerasol...do tetinus shots contain thimerasol??? If so, all I can say is phew!

Hi Donna, well, as you know by now, tetanus shots do contain thimerisol. For me, it's worth getting a tetanus booster because I am constantly getting scratched by barbed wire or other rusty metal in my job. Once, I was pulling weeds, and this rusty piece of barbed wire that was hidden under the weeds flew up and scratched my eye underneath my sunglasses. Talk about weird. So, I just cannot take a chance to go without a tetanus shot. I can pass on flu shots though.

Very interesting about the blood vial in BioSET. I'll have to ask Dr. F about it. I'm going to see him in about 15 minutes. We aren't really focusing on BioSET at the moment though. I guessed right, and something is out of whack with my thyroid. Dr. F put me on one supplement, then I went to my chiropractor, and it tested poorly. So, he put me on another supplement that has helped my thyroid in the past, Thyrosol by Metagenics. I don't know if it's the fertility hormones that are causing my thyroid to be off, but that's my theory right now.

I also had my chiropractor test some wheat pasta on me, and it was a loser. So, I don't know what's up with that, cuz on BioSET, I'm showing clear for gluten. I've mostly been eliminating gluten, except for a couple of tests here and there. Last time I ate a piece of regular cake, I got really sick. I thought it was the sugar, but maybe the gluten was a problem too? I don't know. It's all very mysterious to me.

Oh, I better get back to work! It's Friday, so it's hard to concentrate!

Claire

CarlaB Enthusiast

Claire, you are one person who does need a tetanus shot! I knew that the person who needed it existed! LOL  I just don't think it's wise to immunize everyone across the board.

About rosecea sp? I get this after I take a shower or after I eat. Is this normal? This started happening also with the bladder and bowel stuff. Is this a neurotoxin happening. I was always wondering about this. My face gets blotchy red after shower and just red after I eat. Sometimes my neck and chest as well.

Lisa

Hmm..I dont think it would be rosacea if its also on your neck and chest?? What kinds of foods are you eating when your face gets red? Some foods can trigger rosacea as well as hot showers.

I had mostly burning on my skin....they called it rosacea but it was actually my body reacting to the chemicals and other toxins. My skin gets really red after a shower if I've got alot of imflammation in my body....and fluid retention....the more fluid...the more my skin gets red.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Donna.....if you dont test clearly positive with the Western Blots I seriously doubt that Dr. S. will put you on antibiotics....most likely he would start you on the Cats Claw like he did with me.

He's not really gung-ho on antibiotics.....the very expensive LLMD is alot more aggressive with antibiotics from what I understand....whereas Dr. S. is more conservative about using them.

I'm wondering if he'll be more agressive with how he wants to treat you since you dont have MCS. With me he is always very serious and I usually sort of feel like one of the sickest people EVER...he definately does not try to convince me that I'm gonna be fine and that this is gonna be easy for me at all.

Not that I want him to lie....but sheeesh. :P

I dont know if its just his nature....or maybe I'm just one of the sickest people???

I hope it isnt the latter. :P

I'm not sure what it is that the lady is using...but I'm curious now. :P

Yes, and this is just what I have a written journal for. There were many times before that first entry when I had bronchitis and was given antibiotics. This was all after my hiking trip to Vermont. :(

Well, I'm sort of a danger to myself most times, but don't come into contact with metals much...just the ocassional cut from my kitchen knife and mostly paper cuts, lol.

Ask at BioSET. I see a pamphlet there for saunas, but can't remember if its FAR or FIR sauna...it's one of those.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Rachel, I think some chiropractors and naturopaths, etc. have infrared saunas for public use. No telling where there's one near you ... if you want to visit Cincinnati, you're welcome to try mine. ;)

I'm curious what she's using, too. I also think I'll have Chloe tested for heavy metals.

Chloe had meconium stained fluid (she pooped in the womb ... like any gluten sensitive person would LOL). They didn't let her breath until they aspirated her lungs. It seemed like forever, but it was a short time. There was a large team of physicians and nurses in the delivery room and they practically ignored me. I've always thought this could also be the cause of her learning problems, but it will be nice to at least rule the other things out.

She is very smart, so she won't have trouble in life ... she just can't do the schoolwork. Different methods work for different kids, and the school method doesn't work for her. I think she'd make a very compassionate elementary school teacher after all her difficulties. :)

AndreaB Contributor

Rachel,

I tried one of your links last night and it didn't work for me. Haven't tried the other one.

Carla,

Keep us posted on Chloe's tests. That must have been tramatic for you when she was born. :(

Donna,

After Vermont you got sick.......could that have been lyme? I'm thinking so, but I'm not you and I'm not a knowledgable doctor.

NoGluGirl,

Hope Dart is doing ok now. It would be nice if he could get the testing you want him to have. Keep us posted on your appointment as well.

Claire,

I don't know what to say about the differences between Dr. F and your chiropractor with the food intolerances. Maybe it has to do with the vial of blood?

Ask at BioSET. I see a pamphlet there for saunas, but can't remember if its FAR or FIR sauna...it's one of those.

Ummm....DUH....they have a Far Infrared Sauna at BioSET :o ....I totally forgot about this!!

Open Original Shared Link

And I think I've read that there at least 5 times since I started going to BioSET.

Good thing I didnt go and ask Anna where I could find one.

Sheeesh...what is wrong with my brain.

Donna.....what would I do without you! :P

See...this is a perfect example of my problem....if I *look* at something...or read it....I do not absorb it at all unless its something I'm specifically *wanting* to learn about at that time. It just evaporates from my mind or something.

Anyways the good news is that this might mean I could cancel my gym membership that I've been wasting money on for 2 years now.

I didnt want to cancel it cuz HEY...when I get better I might wanna actually learn how to use the equipment and I might wanna actually WORK OUT or something. :o

Yeah....like thats really gonna happen...I've never worked out in my life.

So I give them $40 a month "just in case".

So I could actually get something out of the 40 bucks if I do 2 saunas a month at BioSET.....since I GO THERE ANYWAY.

OMG....Can you say Dumba**??

So Carla....what do you think? Should I trade my gym sauna for BioSET??

How do I know the gym sauna isnt a Far Infrared?? Are they just standard at the gym??

Anyways...I'd rather go to BioSET for the convenience obviously.....but I was just curious how you can tell which is infrared or not??

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Donna...I will try to re-post what I learned at BioSET last night about why things werent showing up the same in the two different tests.

What makes me mad is that...last night I had the clearest mind I've had in a LONG time. I was astonished at how I rememebred everything from my appt. and it just flowed out of me.

Its usually much more of a struggle for me to recall everything or to explain it in a way that makes sense....yesterday everything made sense...but now its all jumbled. :(

Of all posts to get "lost".....why did it have to be that one?? When I had all of my faculties and actually made good sense.

I guess today is just not a good day as far as remembering things. My friend called awhile ago and I told her I'd call her right back...and then 20 minutes later she called back saying WTH???

I totally forgot.

AndreaB Contributor
Ummm....DUH....they have a Far Infrared Sauna at BioSET :o ....I totally forgot about this!!

I would assume the gym has regular sauna's. I think the BioSET ones would be good. Cancel that memebership. ;)

What makes me mad is that...last night I had the clearest mind I've had in a LONG time. I was astonished at how I rememebred everything from my appt. and it just flowed out of me.

I'm sorry. :( I hope you can get the thoughts unjumbled enough for the gist of it.

If you were me going through what you're going through I'd order a nice, relaxing weekend. Maybe that would still be a good thing though. :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Ok...now I remember why I lost interest in the BioSET Infrared sauna when I'd read about it before.

What can I expect?

You will be given towels to lay on in the unit. The unit is pre-programmed to warm up & cool down for a 30 minute session. After the session, take a few minutes to refresh yourself with a cold hand towel & then be sure to shower upon returning home to wash off the toxins excreted from your skin. Be sure to drink plenty of water

I saw Dr. F today and asked him about the blood sample and BioSET. He said he used to take blood samples all the time, but since he was treating a lot of children and they didn't like to be pricked, he stopped. So he said, yeah, I should start doing blood samples again, that's a good idea! He said you have to take a new sample everytime because the blood changes so rapidly. Do you BioSET Babes have to give a new blood sample everytime you have BioSET done? Otherwise, how would it work? I would like him to do some of that on me, but it will have to wait. I gotta focus all my energy on trying to get pregnant.

BTW, I had him retest the thyroid supplements, and he came up with the same results as my chiropractor. The thing I like about Dr. F is he is ok when I see other people and challenge him. He doesn't get all offended, like other health care practitioners I've been to. I guess my body changed in such a short period of time that the one thyroid supplement only helped for maybe a couple of days.

I'm not much on cavitations, so don't have much to say about that, but it's interesting stuff. If I ever was tested for Lyme or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, I wouldn't be surprised if I had one of them. I've been exposed to ticks all over the world. The weirded tick I had imbedded in me was in Kenya. I was staying at a youth hostel, and I woke up in the middle of the night to find a tick imbedded in my bellybutton :o ! I was so mad, I yanked that thing clean out. I don't even want to tell you the horror stories of all the ticks my dog used to get in Senegal. NOT pretty.

Rachel, my brain doesn't work very well either. I did that "call you right back" thing last week, and totally forgot to call someone at work back  . But the thing that I like about not having a good memory is I don't mind when people tell me the same stories over and over again, cuz it's like hearing it new everytime  . It's a benefit! My Dad tells the same stories and jokes all the time, but it's all new to me!

No, they don't do a new blood draw each time. They check it though to make sure it's still okay...not sure how THAT works, lol, but I know they just checked my sample to make sure it was still okay and it was.

I meet so many people in the waiting area at BioSET, lol. Last week there was a first time person there...for her son. She had a big bag of supplements and I had a big bag of supplements (because of ART) and so she asked if it was my first time. We started talking like we'd known each other for a while, lol. Anyway, it was her son that she was having tested and when the receptionist said okay I'll need to get a blood sample now, the lady looked like a deer in the headlights. Her son was very brave and didn't make a sound, lol.

That's why we all make a good group here...each person has their part...I can remember stuff like that for you and you can find out why my ART and BioSET said different things.

Yeah....I know this one too!!! The answer is sort of "swimming" around in my head right now. Please be patient while I try to get things together here....

Not to worry if you can't remember exactly. I'm having an off day too. But the next time that chocolate ice cream calls tell it to wait. (psst...j/k)

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.
