Hoping you stick around & get comfort from the things others are posting on other pages, there are different health services and products but the inside experience is the same ...

Here are a couple of excerpts from people who posted in the Australia thread:

... us Celiacs of the world really need to stick together. :D

If you're in NZ, this is a good site, giving a list of food manufacturers in NZ

Some of my best friends are from NZ, live in London now, have conditions that are known to be linked to celiac disease, I think they are thinking of going gluten-free ...

Very best of wishes,

Michael

Neats, I too am from New Zealand.

I know you posted long ago, but long ago I did not know what was wrong with me, actually believed there was nothing really wrong with me. It is that ostrich thing, burying my head in the sand.

Well I hope to hear from you.

It is good on this forum, I have learned from it, but it has an American flavour, and it would seem they do not have the products we have over here. It has been a lot of trial and error, and it would be good to have someone to talk to about a kiwi perspective.

Someone was saying how they could eat M&M's over there, but when I look at our packets, they say wheat on them. It is so annoying.

But still, I am trying to loose weight and sweets just won't do it for me.

Cathy

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
