I am looking for Worcestshire sauce. Does anyone have a brand of one that is ok? No rice too.

Thanks

In the U.S. Lea & Perrins (but not in Canada). Kraft, I think.

Yep, Lea and Perrins in the U.S. I have yet to find a gluten-free worchestershire sauce in Canada.

There was a thread on this a while ago. I found a recipe and posted it. Just hang on sec while I open another window and find it.

I hope that link works.

It's in the recipes section in a thread titled "CarrieFaith, found this today" thread started by me.

Me too.

You mean Kraft has a gluten-free worstershire sauce? I don't think they make that in Canada. It's not on the Gluten-free/Lactose-free/Kosher list. I've never seen it. I think having malt in the w. sauce is a federal law in Canada. ( :P kidding, kidding)

You are on to something. I think it was actually part of the new budget today. LOL

Edward and Son's Vegan Worcheshire is gluten-free/cf. It's available in Canada.

Oops, I was wrong there is one available in Canada. Thanks for the info. Mind you I haven't seen it where I am. But now I will look harder.

I can send you some. Just let me know! :) I'm actually out to go get some later this week.

That is so kind of you. First I'll check all the stores here.

Okay :) I am not sure where you are in Canada, but let me know if there are other things you can't find, too, because if I am going to send it, I might as well send a whole bunch of goodies! :)

Desperately need a vitamin D supplement. I've reacted to most brands I've tried.

I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.

Thanks @Scott Adams. Do you know if Kirkland Signature supplements share facility and production lines with other products containing gluten?  I'm worried that I'll react to this brand just like I did with other gluten-free labelled supplement brands.

This is a really common area of confusion. Most natural cheeses (cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, Parmesan, brie, camembert, and most blue cheeses) are inherently gluten-free, and you’re right that the molds used today are typically grown on gluten-free media. The bigger risks tend to come from processed cheeses: shredded cheese (anti-caking agents), cheese spreads, beer-washed rinds, smoke-flavored cheeses, and anything with added seasonings or “natural flavors,” where cross-contact can happen. As for yeast, you’re also correct — yeast itself is gluten-free. The issue is the source: brewer’s yeast and yeast extracts can be derived from barley unless labeled gluten-free, while baker’s yeast is generally safe. When in doubt, sticking with whole, unprocessed cheeses and products specifically labeled gluten-free is the safest approach, especially if you’re highly sensitive.
