I don't know of a mix or jar, but I make gravy all the time by using rice flour. White rice flour works the best and tastes most like "regular" gravy, but brown rice flour works well too. I just use chicken broth or pan drippings and thicken it like I would any other gravy. I've even served it to company on Thanksgiving.

Thanks, I won't have pan drippings with the meatloaf, so you just open up broth, heat and add white rice flour to thicken?

You'll have a lot of meat juices to drain from the pan, use them.

If you're looking for a prepared product, I believe Pacific Organic has gravies that are gluten-free.

I use Road's End Organics, they have several flavors of gravy mixes in packets that are labeled gluten free, I believe they are dairy free too...

yep, if you have no meat juices (like, you made mashed potatoes, but no meat! ;-) ), you can just use a good broth - but it must be a high quality broth. i've uded both used sweet rice flour or corn starch for thickening.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
