Diverticulitis

Soooo my lovely diverticulitis is flaring up (I think). I have been in BIG pain for the last week. I'm pretty sure that is what is going on.....anyways.......I was curious what everyone else does to help sooth the pains.

well i cant really tell you as i have been tested negative for having diverticulitis * doctor thought thats what i had originolay* but when i was in pain i used a medicanal herb that helps relive stomic problems i cant list the name and its not fully legal but it really does help like even just one or two "hits" will remove the pain for atleast a hour.. sorry your feeling so crappy hope you get better

I've had one major diverticulitis flare and the RX was an antibiotic and clear fluids for three days. Pretty boring but I lost weight and the pain subsided. Ignoring the pain can eventually lead to a perforated bowel and possible surgery to remove part of the bowel.

Thanks for the info, however I don't think I'll be picking up an illegal drug habit anytime soon. :lol:

Richard- I know I know.......I sure DON'T want surgery. This is the first time it has ever really hurt like this. I really don't have a clue what I ate to flare it up.

So far I'm just eating soft foods and taking some ibuprofen. It felt a little better this morning. Hopefully that continues. ;)

My BIL had the surgery to remove part of his bowel for diverticulitis and he is still having problems... I'm willing to bet the guy has major problems with his diet, but no one listens to me anyway.

I have this also. But my GI has never even addressed this with me. (former GI). I don't do anything for pain. I guess I can call my pcp and see if he can perscibe me something. It sucks alot of people have this, I am glad there is information here about this. Thanks

      Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

      Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

      This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

      I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
