So my doctor is almost positive i have a form of colitis. He wants me to have a colonoscopy done after he gets the results back from my stool culter( testing for parasites) if that comes back positive he is going to help me get rid of the worms and what not then he still wants to have a colonoscopy done because he is convinced that i have colitis (since my stools are still very green contain black specks, unabosrbed food, and lately have been coverd with a incrediably large ammount of a white mucuse like substance) but some of my symptoms have gone away

My stomic is hardly ever bugging me now besides when i feel i may need food it starts to do the gurgle thing and what not so i eat something and withen 10 minutes it goes away for over 4 hours. So my stomic pains are pretty much gone (only like random pinchs and what not but not nearly as bad as they where even 2 days ago) could this meen that he is wrong about the colitis or can they unforuntaly just flare up whenever they want to?? my left side is still very tender like to the tuch it hurts, but im hoping this is all caused by bacteria/parasites could it??? or do my symptoms that i have still probably meen colitis. Im really hoping to prove the doctor wrong and only have parasites and maybe gluten sensativity. So the only thing left to work on is more normel looking stools, brain fog, hunger(i never get hungry i just eat when my stomic starts to hurt) and slight nausua. any insite on to what you may think would be appretiatied. I want the truth not stuff thats going to make me calm down if it happens to be bad truth o well i need it. Im just not getting any answers from my doctor and its been a month and so im searching hard to find them.

edit-- also how do they test for gluten sensativity? does he just desided i have it or is there a acuall test

edit-- also the white stuff seems to be more in the morning expeshaly my first of the day so im thinking maybe these are eggs or something but its probably like stomic lining :(

edit-- i forgot to add about the fatigue- its only 2pm and i feel like im ready for bed all the time, gah i have been gluten free for about 3 and a half weeks now when will these things end

I was diagnosed with micropsopic colitis 10 years ago. They did a colonoscopy and found irritation in my colon. The medicine did nothing and made it wose. Now that I am gluten free I feel great. The colonoscopy was very uncomfortable and knowing that I had colotis really helped nothing. Good luck.

Lister Rising Star

i dont think he even has thought of microscopic colitis as beeing a possabitly he keeps trying to drill Chrons and ulceritive colitis into my head. I am a 20 years old things like this shouldnt be coming up for atleast another 10 years dam me and my fast food life style i was once living

Hey Lister, has your doctor mentioned candida at all? Aside from the parasites (which could be causing some of your symptoms, candida could also cause most of those same symptoms. It can also present itself as gluten intolerance. I'm only suggesting this since you had said earlier in the week that you tested negative for celiac. It might be worth while looking into it.

Lister Rising Star

i was just about to post that lol how funny. I just did the quiz from candida free, and i scored fricking 197 it says you pretty much definatly have it as a male if you score over 180 and i did by 17 points maybe even more i let myself go with less points on stuff that i probably should have made 9 instead of 6, i am going to bring this up to my doctor on monday when he calls and see what he thinks, but he is beeing a fricking jerk so i dont even think he will bother listning

(example of doctor beeing a jerk) he is the on call doctor right now so he gets paid to answer phone calls. I called at 7am yesi know this is slightly early so i was not expecting a response for atleast a couple of hours. it hit 11 and still no call so i had him paged again. he called me back and said that he perpsly did not call me back and then he told me never to call him again unless i start compulsavly vomiting or crapping lots of blood. Now i do belive it his JOB to answer calls from patiens when he is on call not to give me crappy answers like that.

but yeah that definatly sounds like me hmmmmmm (is candida a risk to your health or just cause lots of symptoms?) wow i really hope it is candida that would be great to finally feel normal again its been so long i can barly remember what it feels like.

Lister Rising Star

should i rule out everything else first with a colonoscopy or just ask my doctor about candidia and see what he thinks??

Lister, you doctor is an on call doctor for emergencies, that is what he meant by the blood or vomit statement. From what you have listed here as going on yesterday and today 'emergency' does not really apply. While I am the first to doctor bash, I've had some doozies, this was not out of line. He may have been up all night putting someones intestines back in after an accident or something. It is his job to answer emergencies when he is on call and I'm sure if you have an emergency he will be there for you.

this one is really long but i figure the longer the quiz the more extensive.

and then here is a short one that also tells you how to do the spit test

You should teach yourself how to spell.

(I'm a dork. I like reading grammar books and stuff). I mean, if you can learn so much about celiac disease in a short period of time, I think you're capable of learning how to spell. Sorry, that was random and did not answer any of your questions, but I couldn't help it :)

GravStars Contributor

hmm, i just tried the spit test (even though i didn't just wake up) and almost right away there are mucousy strings floating around in the water and its turned cloudy. my symptoms seems to match up more with gluten intolerance than candida though, but maybe i should looks into this.

Lister Rising Star

candida can cause gluten intolerancy thats why im looking into it

Lister Rising Star

going to pray and keep my fingers crossed about my test results tomorrow and hope i do have canidia that would be sweeeeet

this is making me feel alot better, it makes me not worry about chrons or uleritive colitis since this all could just be parasites and canidia shouldnt get my hopes up to much or i could get very bumbd if its not

Lister Rising Star

also i had a question. how do you tell if your hungry?? i have not had a appetite for a month now and have ot wait until my stomic starts to physicaly hurt for me to know, anyone have some hints or tips

Guhlia Rising Star

I would bet that it has something to do with your parasitic infection. If I were you, I would eat small amounts every 3-4 hours. That should keep you from getting hunger pains. Also, be sure that you're fulfilling an appropriate caloric intake for your size.

Lister Rising Star

god im so good at making myself depressed over things i cant controle :(

i keep thinking about what if its not parasites what if its not canidia. what if it is chrons or ulceritive i meen i know i sound like a little whinny kid because i know alot of you are already going thru these things or have worse things, its just i never had health problems until this month and i am not getting better, besides for my stomic finaly not growling/poping. Im still really tender though like besides for my arm and chest-hurt to tuch

my left side is still inflamed like i cant tuch it very hard or else it stings i really hope this can be caused by parasites or canidia....... i know i know i really do whine alot, im just so depressed lately its the only thing i do. oh and i keep getting spasims coming from my small intestine and my colon not sure what thats all about

I was 18 when I was diagnosed and they thought I had a form of colitis so they did the colonoscopy. From what I was told they don't usually know what type until they do a biopsy. Hopefully they can figure it out.

Lister Rising Star

yeah i just hope it turns out its just canidian instead of colitis but he seems pretty convinced it is colitis, but i also have not talked to him yet about canidian

jeez 18 huh, wow so what does it do to you? long term health complications from it? or just like stomic problems here and there?

anyone know a callorie intake for male 20 year old weight 187

You're just a product of the American educational system. If they taught kids properly on how to read phonetically in public schools, everyone would be able to spell. Programs like microsoft word don't help.

Sorry.....Chelsea is absolutely right. In California, the biggest disaster ever to hit the educational system was the Whole Language approach and "invented spelling" - - - a true horror.

Guess we've gotten off-topic a bit here....

Lister Rising Star

to continue off topic, the reson i can not spell is because instead of letting me attend class's i was thrown into lrc programs and into suspensions and into special class's where they just let us play all day- this was all the way thru middle school, once entering highschool i realized how slow they had made me

back onto topic, the more i think about it the less i think i have chrons (its what the doctor thinks i have) i meen i dont even have D i had it for the first 2 1/2 weeks before going gluten free then it changed back and forth between normel and C, and C is not a part of chrons chrons causes chronic D and thats not a problem for me. hmmmm i think my doctor may need to do more reaserch before scaring his pationts

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
    • Scott Adams
Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
