Barley In My Deodorant?!

I'm new to getting rid of gluten. I've been hopefully gluten-free for 3 weeks now. However in addition to discovering that my hairspray has wheat and hydrolyzed wheat protein in it, now I see my deodorant has barley in it!

Are there any generally safe soap/shampoo lines and cosmetic lines?

Sarah

Well the hairspray I would switch because that you could definately ingest because of the spray, but if you're deoderant is roll on I wouldn't really worry about it. Maybe others will have a different opinion but I've never licked my deoderant.

I get reactions just touching gluten (yeah even if I don't eat it) so all my personal care stuff is gluten free.

Dove is pretty good about disclosing ingredients, and I haven't found anything of theirs with gluten yet (but you should always read it every time you buy it) they make shampoo, conditioner and deoderant.

As far as hairspray, I use White Rain, but I don't know about other brands' gluten status. You would have to just read.

I was getting acne on my scalp until I realized I was using a shampoo with wheat in it. I have the Delphi list. Their list of safe health and beauty stuff is too big to copy and post. Here's how to get it.

1) Go to the website, Open Original Shared Link

2) Click on "messages" or "start reading"

3) Select the folder "gluten-free Product List"

4) Click on the topic called "Downloadable files word"

5) Of the four options, choose the one in the upper right.

You may need to register (the basic version is free) in which case, just register first, then complete the steps above.

Interesting. Ok I take back my deoderant comment.

I use the dove deodorant, and all their hair products. when i was playing soccer, i would always have the hairspray for my team because i knew what i could use, and i would always use Dove extra hold, that is also what we used in the dressing room at theatre when i was little.

DOVE all the way!

Thank you very much for your suggestions! Looks like Dove is the way to go. I already use Dove shampoo and conditioner and like it. I'm going to switch to their hairspray and deodorant also.

Thanks Girl Ninja for the link to the gluten-free file! that sounds great.

I'll add my support for Dove too! I'd be lost without their foaming face wash. It's so good to my skin!

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
