I belong to the local CSA chapter and I have several places that I could recommend. I highly recommend Abrusci's - www.abruscis.com. It is a locally owned Italian restaurant with a gluten free menu. They are skilled and trained to handle gluten free. The pizza is delicious, and they can make any pasta dish you want. Also, BeauJo's Pizza Place offers gluten free pizzas. The location I went to is in Highlands Ranch (Denver suburb). In fact, I am meeting my group there tonight. Ted's Montana Grill offers gluten free. You can look them up on line. I love it there, BUT, sometimes they can be lax, so I sit at the bar where I can watch them prepare my food. And, of course, you have your usual Outback and Chili's Restaurants that do a good job with gluten free. I hope this info helps you.

Thank you, nlindsey. That's what I was hoping for...maybe a pizza place or something a little different from the usual chains. Is there a store you could recommend so that we can pick up snacks instead of trying to pack them on the plane? Thanks again :)

Deby's Gluten Free Bakery and Cafe in Denver is 100% gluten free.

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner...

In Vegas, you have many choices.

Besides the usual chain restaurants, you can go to:

1 Staxx in the Mirage (Call ahead, tell them you are Celiac)

2 Samba in the Mirage (Same thing)

3 Craftsteak in MGM

4 Cafe Ba Ba Reeba in the Fashion Show MAll

5 Maggiano's in Fashion show mall

6 Most sushi restaunts on the strip (no soy sauce, so imitation crab)

7 Bouchon in the Venetian (Great Breakfast)

8 Vegas has two whole foods markets and a couple Wild Oats..

9 Low Calzone in Henderson for gluten free pizza (call first)

Pisco's on 6th Avenue is a bit pricier then your normal chains, but YUMMY and they will do certain things gluten free if you talk with them. Their porkchop was fantastic, and they made me the same sauce it comes with, just gluten free. They have the best french fries hands down I have ever had.

Deby's I think is overrated, but it is 100% gluten-free.

We ate at Las Delicias last night and it was great. Waiter recommended grilled chicken and the veggie fajitas with corn tortillas. VERY good and gluten-free. There are four locations in Denver.

I need to try Abrusci's - it's north of Denver in the burbs (I rarely get there) but their menu seems great for gluten-free items.

lablady511,

There are Whole Foods and Wild Oats in Denver and around the metro area, same for Vitamin Cottage health food stores (these are my favorite, small locally owned and cheaper for your snacks).

Here's the link to look up store locations: Open Original Shared Link

I am beginnning to think the same thing about Deby's myself, but it is nice to know there is an establishment that is 100% gluten free.

ALthough, a friend of mine bought some foccacia type bread at Deby's last week for me - it was hands down the best bread I've had (gluten free). Their muffins were fair, their cheesecake stunk.

I'm headed to Cheesecake Factory for dinner tonight. I've heard good/bad about gluten-free there so wish me luck. I wish more places in teh city knew about gluten-free. It seems like the burb places know more.

Good luck at the Cheesecake factory Steve :)

I just don't eat out, sorry I can't help you out with more ideas of places to go. If I hear of anything in the future I will be sure to post it.

Regarding Deby's, I have only tried a few things. The cinnamon rolls are awful, muffins I agree very fair, I do however love their pizza. I actually like it better than Beau Jos gluten-free.

Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions. They surely will make our trip more fun. I live in central Massachusetts. It's sad that we don't have any restaurants that serve gluten free pasta or pizza....hopefully that will change soon.

Enjoy your stop through Denver/Colorado lablady! Sounds like it will be a lot of fun all the places you will be traveling to :)

I found this link to the Denver Dining List, through the Celiac Sprue Association, they also have a list for Ft. Collins, Boulder, and Colorado Springs.

I had heard about Maggianos a few years ago, there was an article in the paper about the head chef's wife having celiac so he was aware of the difficulties of eating out with the disease and wanted to make the restaurants celiac friendly. I don't know if they have been successful with this or not, but it is on the list.

Okay, I got lost in the weeds here in this protracted thread. What are you taking omeprazole for? Your original thread had to do with dental, gum and thrush issues. Normally, a PPI is prescribed for people with GERD (acid reflux). How long have you been on omeprazole?
    • Caligirl57
Hi Charlie  I also take omeprazole. It does help. I was diagnosed with fatty liver about 20 years ago. Didn’t pay any attention to it. Then 20 years later diagnosed with celiac disease that I probably had most of my life, looking back. Both of those things caused my liver to fail. I’m not a drinker. When I was diagnosed back in the states I had 30 days to live. After 3 weeks, in hospital I received a liver transplant. I was so sick I was there for 3 months. After that my kidneys went south. I was on dialysis for 8 months and on a kidney transplant list. When we received the call about an available kidney (4yrs) I was so excited! After the transplant the surgeon told my husband I had a 1 in 10 million chase for a kidney transplant as my antibodies were at 99%. Only 1 percent of the population was a match to me. I’m 1 year out from my kidney transplant and have so much energy and life left to live!  Please everyone, listen to your body and get medical advice. I wish I had sooner.   i hope this will inspire more people to Donate to Life.

Curious if any other disregarded celiacs medically, not eating wheat and other foods im not to consume but yes its in the house because others have to eat. Currently dealing with eye issues, skin issues, blood and colon look fabulous because NOT consuming. Now im dealing with i may have ms or meningioma....Im also sibo positive, ibs which they think is the cause, " depression " which medical has caused me.Why is it so hard for medical to believe. I went to ER Dec 23 per pcp and got blood drawn sick as hell looking like a corpse bride with dark circles and pale skin.No surprise they said my blood is fine and I had to say thats not what im here for because im always told its fine when not, Ketones waked and then they said I have the flu, ya the flu 24/7 for years battling what the heck is going on.Doctors really need to listen, understand celiac which I've tried to school in past from what I've learned on these websites but it feels as if running in a useless circle. Im to take gabapentin 300. for a week and then go up to 600 since taking this and a other med that was prescribed no longer taking because it makes me awake. This one too is amping me up to not be sleepy when I am tired. Just curious if meningioma or ms is a link to core issue of celiac?I also saw the proclamation but confused because it states that California has two women?  Do I reach out to them? Ive already wrote to my local representative in Stanislaus County.Being celiac and dealing with a circus of clowns that didn't diagnose one doesn't make celiac go away and its not fair or right to us.Im angery, diagnosed by gi doctor by biopsy before foods eliminated from my diet, celiac sprue at the age of 23 in 1994.Now menopause has killed any tolerance i had and body affected badly. No one should go through the medical HELL ive been through.  Also positive HLA-DQ2

@Caligirl57 hi and thank you for the reply! I have had myself scared to death over this. I am still having pain but it's not as bad. I have always had bad teeth and gums  @trents thank you, so omeprazole is the right thing to take?
    • cristiana
@Charlie1946 You are more than welcome.  If you are struggling with mental health do consult with a medical professional and follow their advice if they think you need medication, as I did for a while, but I hope you will find these books as helpful as I did on the road to recovery.
