Who Has High Cholesterol?

I was reading about this and wondered if those of you who have it have noticed it went down after being gluten-free. I haven't had mine checked lately but I haven't been to the dr. lately. I hate to go. The last time I went was before this gluten realization and they wanted me on HRT that was 3 yrs ago. They actually got mad at me because I told them no I did not feel they were safe for me.

I had mine checked about two weeks ago. It's slightly high, but according to my doctor, nothing to worry about as he has several Celiac patients and says they all come in with almost the exact same numbers. He's not sure why that is though. ;)

This is interesting. Mine was measured at 288 about 10 years ago. Last fall, at 6 months gluten-free, it was 213. At that point, I had also been dairy free for 2 years.

I'm sure dairy free makes a difference. A lot of us use cheese and eggs for protien as it's so easy, and so safe  It seems your numbers are different where you are. Mine was 5.08 ... normal is considered at 5.

Nope, mine's always been good so far, but I also get a fair bit of exercise.

Mine has always been abnormally low for my diet. I attribute that to 15 solid years of D. However my heart looks like my numbers had been high. It had gone up to 168 last time it was checked.

This is interesting. That Tiffany does everything right :)

I haven't had it tested since giving up gluten and dairy. The highest it's ever been was 168, the lowest 112, and the most recent 142. My father has low cholesterol, and my daughter's was so low once that the doctor thought she had an eating disorder and hadn't had anything to eat in weeks.

My "bad" cholesterol has always been fine; but my "good" cholesterol is chronically low. I have not checked it again since going gluten free, however.

Mine is 116...pretty low..and the good cholesterol is too low also. Drs usually think im mistaken when i tell them my #s until they check it themselves

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
