Wanted to know... is gluten-free buckwheat okay for a celiac? I was given some hot cereal mix made from gluten-free buckwheat and wanted to know if it was okay? Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

buckwheat is safe. It is not technically a grain. It's a berry, I think.

Despite its name, buckwheat has nothing in common with wheat, and is safe for celiacs. Be careful, though, because many buckwheat products also contain other things, such as "buckwheat pancakes" which are mostly wheat with some buckwheat added in.

Yep, it is fine..it just has a bad name..but has nothing to do with wheat.

Yes!!!

I just ran across some new Van's Waffles at Whole Foods that are Buckwheat with blueberries and raspberries and they ROCK!!! Says Gluten-free right on the box!

Buckwheat is from the rhubarb family.

Buckwheat by itself is gluten-free, but be careful, sometimes buckwheat can be mixed with other flours like wheat.

Don't know where you're at, but here in DAllas, TX not only does Whole Foods carry them, but even Kroger here has these waffles. And they do rock!

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
