I've been gluten free for only two days and I've been really worried about how to make the correct food choices and eating out. I've read several posts tonight and my mind is at ease. Being new to the celiac world, this forum is extremely helpful.

Welcome here!

Glad you really like this place :) , it's almost like an encylcopedia of knowledge about Celiac, gluten, and its effects on the mind, body, and soul. It's a helpful place.

Need any help, fear not to ask! Most are friendly, epesically if they can steer a person from making a terrible decision and consuming gluten.

Feel free to PM me if you need.

this forum is a must for the newly diagnosed as it does contain things i personally would have never thought about excludeing from my diet. keep at it as it only gets easier to pick the thing you know are good for you and safe. everyone here is in the same boat and we all need ecouagement and some sympathy and its allways best from people who understand and KNOW what its like to live in a gluten free world. best of luck.

I spent all my free time for about three weeks after I discovered this forum, and am still often here searching and reading old posts. There is such a wealth of information. Most of my questions and concerns have been answered by and expanded on by others and I've been "saved" from the trial-and-error method of determining safe foods and brands.

I recently checked out a newly published celiac book from the library - Celiac Disease, a hidden epidemic by Peter H.R. Green, MD. (director of the Celiac Disease Center and Columbia Univ.) and Rory Jones (a science writer of health and medical topics). After reading through it I found that I knew very nearly everything written in the book, and then some (okay, there were a few things I didn't know already). By the way, celiac.com was mentioned in the authors' list of references.

Welcome! You've found the best place to be. Very very helpful and informative. Keep reading and learning, and realize there could be some ups and downs...but you will stabilize and will feel so much better. And seriously, I think most people on this board who've been here any length of time know more than DOCTORS - - doctors don't live it, WE do.

Keep reading and learnign and you'll do great. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.
