How Long After Being Glutened Do You Feel Better?

Forgive me if this has been a thread before....

Last week I made the mistake of eating out about 4 times. All I ate SHOULD have been OK....but I know I was glutened. I had what my husband calls "angry a#s" last week, which means I had to poop a lot, to the point it hurts to walk..... I still have a lot of gas this week. My stomach feels "bubbly". I have indigestion (even though I take prescribed medicine for this) and I have flatulance. It's frustrating because before I stopped eating gluten, I did not have any obvious problems like this. Now, if I get some even through cross contamination, I suffer. And no matter how careful I am about what I eat at a restaurant and after talking with the staff, I still seem to suffer some.....

So, how long does it usually take after being glutened before you feel better? Whenever I'm feeling ill, I get on these board and it helps me to know I'm not the only one.... Thanks to all of you for providing such good support.

Martha Ann

Usually for me the nausea, bloating etc. will last 48 - 72 hours. The fatigue, lethargy, lack of concentration etc. will last up to ten days.

Hope you feel better soon.

For me, the nausea, bloating, "d", and other severe symptoms last 5-7 days; but the brain fog, fatigue, muscle aches and pains, etc, last another 5-7 days. So , ususally it takes me 10-14 days to feel "normal" again.

2 weeks seems to be the mean duration of recovery after being glutened, but multiple "glutenings" might prolong this recovery time.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
