Leaky Gut?

Papa-Hen

Recommended Posts

Papa-Hen Rookie

Folks,

I hope someone can tell me about leaky gut symdrome to include:

How would I know if I had it?

What would I do about it?

Could it be the cause of my flu-like symptoms (stay-in-bed exhaustion without the sniffles, sneezes, fever)?

Thanks,

- Henry

Well, I guess malabsorption would go along with a leaky gut, though perhaps less often the other way around. So in that case you'd be passing somewhat undigested food. Magnesium is rather important for proper absorption, so that's one thing I'd suggest for any Celiac.

For symptoms, I'd have to think it depends on the foods you eat, and what you are more sensitive to. The toxins which get into your system could cause all sorts of things, so IMHO yes the flu-like symptoms could be from that.

I think all allergies and sensitivities would probably be heightened. That's my two cents.

There really aren't necessarily any symptoms. But getting autoimmune diseases might be one of the results of it.

What I know off the top of my head about it:

How to help prevent it/heal it:

Get all foods out of your system that you 'have a problem with' - do a proper elimination diet.

DO NOT take ANY NSAIDS - non-steroidal anti-inflammatories - they help to create the too-permeable to large food molecules (from non-fully digested foods) intestinal lining that IS 'leaky gut'

Drink less alcohol

Get enough 'pro-biotics'

Use digestive enzymes

Don't use antibiotics unless absolutely necessary

I definitely had leaky gut before I was diagnosed. It was horrible feeling. It really feels like something is leaking inside of you.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
