Dasani

Let me just say that I was incredibly impressed with the response time. I e-mailed Coca-Cola this morning, and got a standard reply within an hour simply saying they had received my e-mail. Within two more hours I'd received another reply. Below is my correspondance so far - I encourage anyone who has similar problems with Dasani water to e-mail the company.

It only takes two minutes and it can't hurt anything, right?

>>What additives do you put in Dasani bottled water? I drink bottled water on a daily basis, and Dasani is the only brand that leaves me with nausea, cramping, and diarrhea.

Worst of all, the university I attend signed a contract with Coca-Cola over the summer, and now the only bottled water available on campus is Dasani.

Why can't your water be just plain water? I speak for many as I am not the only person who refuses to drink Dasani water due to the gastrointenstinal discomfort it causes.

Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company, Ms. Luecke. We appreciate your taking the time to make us aware of your experience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

We are very interested in this unusual situation and would like to obtain additional information, so we can provide a complete report to the appropriate management.

Is this your first time trying this product? If it was not the first time, did you notice an off taste, color or odor? Do you have any known allergies? Other than this brand, what other product have you consumed within the last 6 hours?

Additionally, we would like to request: your daytime phone number, address, the name, street address and city of the store where you purchased the product, the date you purchased the product, the date the incident occurred, the multi-pack size (6-pack or 12-pack), the complete date code (similar to NOV2706XPE12:13CT225) located near the neck of the bottle.

If possible, we ask that you retain the product in its original packaging until you are contacted by one of our representatives.

Please feel free to "reply with history" directly to this message with the information and you should expect a follow-up within 7 to 10 business days.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to hearing from you.

>>Approximately six years ago I worked for the Home Depot and every morning I would buy a bottle of Dasani water from the vending machine located in the public area of the store. Every morning I would get sick to my stomach. However, I gradually noticed that the mornings when I purchased the 'off-brand' water from the employee break room, I would not get sick.

For the past six years, I have tried Dasani on various occassions when it was the only option available. Each time has resulted in nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I typically drink Deer Park, Publix or Aquafina brand waters and have never had any problems with these brands, or any other brand I may find at a gas station or convenience store. I drink 6-8 bottles of water a day, and I am devastated that I have to go off campus to find Aquafina or some type of off-brand.

I have never noticed anything wrong with the water (i.e. an off taste, discoloration, foul smell) at the times when I have consumed it. Simply put, it just always makes me sick.

Recently I have been dealing with gluten intolerance issues, but Coca-Cola is a very trusted brand name among those with gluten problems. Ironically, the problem with Dasani water was once again brought to my attention via a Gluten Free Forum. (Celiac.com message board) This in combination with my inability to find "safe" water on campus has prompted me to write this e-mail.

I cannot provide any specific information on the product as this is something that I've noticed over the past six years. Most of my purchases of Dasani water were made either in Milwaukee, WI and its surrounding areas or Columbia, SC.

Why add any chemicals to your bottled water? What purpose do they serve?

I think dasani water tastes weird so I do not really ever drink it (I'm very picky about water, yeah, I know, I'm weird!) But, I think it is awesome that you wrote them!! I think it would be so cool if we all saturated the market with letters to tons of companies. I think this would get the point across to some stubborn companies so they would finally realize how important it is for them to know (and care) about the ingredients of their products!

Keep us posted!

i think it tastes weird, too. I wont drink it. Good luck finding water. You might want to buy in bulk so you don't have to trek off campus as often...

I can say one thing for Coca-Cola...they are extremely efficient in replying to their email inquiries! And now we know why they add all that extra crap:

Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company again, Ms. Luecke. We apologize for any

inconvenience.

We have shared the information you provided to us with the appropriate management. You

should expect a response soon.

DASANI contains magnesium sulfate, potassium chloride and salt. Research indicated

consumers preferred the taste of DASANI with the added minerals.

Keep in mind that Dasani, Aquafina and the like are basically filtered tap water from god knows where. If I'm going to buy water I'm going to buy water from a spring, not a turbine that it's stored in.

Anyone else have problems with Dasani? I've always kind of avoided it because I don't like the taste, but I had some today, and my system is having a fit. I don't know if it was that or CC from something I ate. Trying to figure it out. Anyone??

I ALWAYS reacted to Dasani! I drink filtered tap water only. If I HAVE to buy water I buy Poland Spring which, sadly, is no longer guaranteed to be from Poland Spring, Maine! I think bottled water is the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people. Check out you local tap water or well-water and drink on!

There's SOMETHING in Dasani!

I don't like Dasani either, it makes my tummy unhappy, too. Though, I am a bit of a water snob. My favorite is Le Bleu, which is a local company. They are as close as I get to distilled water, which I grew up drinking. Most other bottled waters taste like they came straight from the tap- which they probably did.

So i wonder whats in it that could effect everyone

This is true, but your buying Aquafina because it has one of the most advance mulit-step filtration processes available.

I too do not drink Dasani.

I always thought I was weird but I really don't like Dasani water. I know I dislike the taste but it always makes me feel weird too. I'd be interested to know what else is in it or in the actual bottle they use that makes it that way.

The chemical compound potassium chloride (KCl) is used in judicial execution through lethal injection.

Is this lethal in larger amounts or used in execution for another reason

I think it's because the Death Row inmates prefer the taste with it added.

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
    • Scott Adams
Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
