Funny enough... I went to their website and

the only menu that did not come up properly

was the gluten free one!

I went there a year ago (in Duluth GA)

and the staff at the time had no clue so

I didn't eat there -sorry I couldn't be more

help, but I think I would definitely have

a talk with the manager prior to eating there.

thanks, i had no trouble with the site, was just hoping someone could tell me more

I have not been personally, but saw on another post that someone successfully ate at the Bugaboo in Burlington, MA.

thank you :D

It seems that they are pretty new at it though...from what I have heard they are not nearly as far along as Outback. So you may have to explain things a bit more thoroughly than restaurants like Outback, Legals, and PF Changs. I am thinking to try the one in Burlington soon, as I work a couple miles away...but of course have been a bit nervous as I am sure you are too!

I've been thinking of trying legal seafood in natick/framingham but was told its always very busy and the tables are set up so you're practically sitting on top of the ppl next to you..[think cafeteria style] I hate that, do they have booths?

We went to the Bugaboo Creek in Braintree last weekend. My daughter was fine. I can't remember what she ordered except that it was some sort of dinner salad with chicken. I had seen from their website that they had a gluten free menu. When I mentioned to the server that we needed that menu, she was totally confused, had no idea what gluten was and said they don't have such a menu (in her defense, she was nice though). Anyway, I found the manager and, yes, they have a gluten free menu. The manager came over, went over the menu with my daughter and oversaw her meal being cooked in the kitchen. She seemed quite knowledgable and it was fine. Despite the confusion, we'd go again. If it makes a difference, she's also dairy free and that wasn't a problem either.

Betty,

Where is the mexican restaurant you go to?

Thanks!

I go to Legal's in Burlington about once a month and have never had a problem...they seem very careful about everything. Usually I have a manager come out and talk to me without even asking to see him/her (they must be alerted each time there is a special order). In the bar area the tables are very close and you are basically eating with strangers! However, there is an entire area of the restaurant with booths and separate tables which are much more private. I am not sure how the Natick one is set up, but I would imagine all the restaurants are set up in a similar manner?

I eat at Bugaboo in Watertown near Arsenal Mall in Mass. I go at least every other month. So far no problems. But, I have been 4 times since the gluten-free menu came out. The third time it was different menu, and the fourth it was back to the old one!? So, I was a little concerned. I stick to the same thing each time and have been ok. I get the lemon seasoned trout, smashed potatoes and veggies. Yum. The servers definitley don't have a clue what gluten free is, but the cooks seem to. They always ask if I want bread!!!

Where is Plainville? Is it in the Boston area or North South?? Thanks

I have eaten at Bugaboo 3-4 times since the gluten-free menu came out without any problems. Last week I stopped in - ordered something I had had before and specified to the waitress that I needed it prepared gluten free. She said, it is a gluten free item. I explained that I needed her to tell the kitchen that I needed it prepared that way and that they needed to monitor what it came in contact with in the kitchen.

I live about 25 minutes away, and I barely made it home. I was SO sick. I was crying b/c my stomach pain was so great and my "gluten-ed" symptoms were so intense. I called and requested to speak with the manager. I explained very nicely that I knew Saturday nights are busy, but they needed to know that my request was not followed through on.

She didn't even ask who served me or where I was sitting. In fact, the best she offered was, next time come in and a manager will watch your meal the whole way through the kitchen.

Personally, I feel you should train your staff to handle any allergy without being babysat by a manager.

I was NOT pleased with our conversation, and I will probably NOT go back.

My fiance' is in the restaurant business, so I double checked with him - and he felt that the manager handled my health needs in a pretty non chalant (sp?) manner, and that I should be unhappy with her response. (Wanted to make sure I wasn't eliminating a possible restaurant too rashly!!!!!)

If I get brave enough I may go back, b/c it's a nice meeting point between my sister's home and mine, but it will not be for a LONG while. Bummer

Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

"Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶
