1. To feel warmly welcomed into this new club and paid attention to.

2. To be given the assurance and scientific evidence that this is probably really, really true.

3. To have all your innocent, naive and even foolish questions answered.

4. To have your hand held because you're scared, sick, confused and sad.

5. To be given reassurance and a place to vent when the accidental glutenings and discouragements come.

6. To be loaded down with wonderful recipes and cooking tips from people who really know their stuff.

7. To be given wise advice concerning inconsiderate family members, gluten free homes and unkind friends.

8. To be taught how to eat in restaurants, go places and survive in this world.

9. To be educated, well trained and secure enough to care about and help the next group of newbies.

10. To be told that everything is honestly going to be just fine.

You'll find oodles of recipes in the recipes section, btw. I have a post in there with 45ish recipes in it, Carriefaith, I believe, has a post with a bunch of her recipes, and lots and lots of other people have added theirs. I encourage checking in there when you have time, to print out recipes. :)

Kathy Ann and all you newbies your needs have been, or will be met here.

1. I've felt welcomed and part of the team here and my questions get answered.

2. For assurance and evidence I am pointed in the right direction or else advised of other sites on the internet. I have so many sites to visit.

3. Oh, if everybody ignored all my innocent and naive foolish questions, I would've been happy. The minute I asked something stupid the minute I knew, that was a damned silly thing to ask. But nobody says, hey that was silly.

4. Well not quite have had my hand held, but aware that I am not alone and there are all of you people out there who hold my hand across the oceans.

5. This is an awesome place to vent, and nobody seems to mind when I do. Whereas, if I vent at home, I get some funny looks, and just about get banished from the room.

6. Just like the internet sites, I have got so many recipes to look at.

7. Fortunately, there have not been too many inconsiderate family members, the biggest problem with them is talking them into getting tested for coeliac.

8. I still haven't learnt how to eat in restuarants. It's too expensive on the wages I earn, so when I win lotto I will learn the finer art of dining out.

9. I can feel for the newbies, and would like to think that I have helped a bit, but I am not too sure if I have. But when I was a newbie, I was guided along with just the right amount of information as I needed it.

10. Yes everything is working out for me, and I hope it will for you as well. The sun is shining here quite brightly, but is nearly ready to fall behind the next hill since it is now 7.30pm. Damn that sun.

Kathy Ann,

What a wonderfully written sentiment! I think you summed up the needs of newbies (and, not so newbies) quite wonderfully. Just think, one day you won't be a newbie and will passing along wonderful advice, tips, and knowledge. Its definitely one of those "pay it forward" type of things ....

Kathy Ann - - poignant and beautiful post. I remember, back in the bleak beginning of this year, looking and feeling like a corpse and hardly able to arise from the couch, I was so anemic and sick. And on top of that - the man I'd planned on marrying broke up with me at about the same time. It was a terrible double-whammy and I never, ever thought I'd live or recover....

Most likely there will be ups and downs before you fully stabilize, but you will feel so much better after a while. My physical health has never been better. Just hang in there! I have gotten almost all of my info from this board - these are the people that live it daily, not the doctors.

blessings -

Thank you all so much for being willing to give of yourselves and your time on this board. It's not like you don't have a gazillion other things you could be doing.

I know what you mean. Being gluten intolerant is one thing. With a little ingenuity you can still have pizza, cakes, cookies, ice cream and just about anything else you can invent with alternative non gluten ingredients. Cookbooks abound.

But when you are found to ALSO be allergic to dairy, eggs, soy, corn, almonds, yeast and several other key things, it can REALLY be discouraging. Cookbooks for that many allergies dwindles down to nearly nothing. Most recipes have to be severely modified and usually don't turn out very well. And basic beloved foods like mayonnaise become impossible to make with the foods I can have.

I absolutely LOVE cheese, for instance. All the substitutes, some of which taste pretty good, are made from other things I can't have either. So all of a sudden I can't ever eat it again. My dairy, egg and soy allergies are the inherited, probably permanent kind. It's a real slap in the face.

I can't use most of the wonderful mixes out there because there is always at least one ingredient I can't have. I have posted before my intentions to just go Paleo or something similar. I've been doing it for about a week now. I'm not terribly satisfied or impressed. I'll do what I have to do, but I sure am mourning the loss of food most days.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding

I think I found a huge culprit for severe reactions to create worsening of my c symptoms. Do people with celiac have sensitivity and /or have opposite reaction to certain medications Where can I find a list ?  I'm new here I'm.wondering why I am getting worse when I take certain medicine...the burning feet.  Rebound muscle pain so intense  How many people get opposite effects or have a horrible attack after these meds

Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️
