Symptoms Changing After Healing?

Hi everyone,

I cheated (I know, I know) on Sunday and I've experienced some of my usual symptoms (back pain and severe fatigue) but not the most prominent ones (bloating and stomach pain). I know for certain that I ate gluten, as well as dairy and fat which usually present problems for me... but I'm not having the major symptoms. It's been several days, so what gives? Have I healed enough that it didn't produce all the symptoms or is it just a freak accident?

Thanks!

Hi Elizabeth,

I don't really know. It could be, but then I've seen people on here that have been diagnosed for many years, and their symptoms don't seem to change when glutened. My opinion, it probably varies from person to person, like everything else about this thing!

I've actually been thinking about this, too. I was glutened accidently on Monday (CC). Within a couple hours (the usual onset), I had gas that led to not-quite-D twice. My face broke out a little, too. I was nauseous on and off for the rest of that night and yesterday. By this morning, I was back to normal--no symptoms, stomach or otherwise.

I haven't had a gluten reaction is quite a while, but it was always much worse--and lasted longer.

Not that I'm complaining or anything :D .

Looking forward to hearing what others think about this :)

Welcome to the forum! This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):    This article may also be helpful:

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
