High Igg Levels/negative Everything Else

i have just started reading this board and it has been very helpful so far. I just got some labwork back, my gliadin IGG level was 48, where >30 is a strong positve, my IgA levels were negative as well as TTG. I saw some post saying that a elevated IgG level could be related to other things, can anyone elaborate on that.?

My history is I am 24, I have been feeling fatigued/moody/brain foggy for the last few years, after seeing a few different doctors, i finally got a thryoid panel and found out I have a Hashimatos disease (autoimmune thyroid problem causing hypothyroidism). They medicine has made me feel a lot better with the moodiness and constant weight gain, but I still have pretty bad bouts of fatigue (at least for someone who used to be very active). Also I have always had a "bad stomach" (bouts of diarehhia, cramping constant bloating, soreness in my lower abdomen), so I finally went to see a GI doctor, after deciding I probably just had mild IBS, i asked him to get an autoimmune panel since I have heard people with one autoimmune problem tend to have others. Anyway, I just got the labs back, I am not sure what all of the test performed are (Endomysial AB, Transglutaminase IGA, and Gliadin Antibodies) but the only high value is the Gliadin IgG. The other thing is I have a kind of low wheat intake already, maybe a piece of bread a day, but mostly protein and veggies and I have noticed that makes me feel better.

Sorry for the long posting, just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences and maybe someone could explain the IGG better. Thanks

My only non-negative test was anti-reticulin IgG. I too have heard that elevated IgG's can be related to "other things" but have still never found any actual "things" that it is related to. (I've looked... nothing...) The low gluten consumption could affect your test results, and unless you plan to get a biopsy, I can only suggest going completely off gluten for a while, and - if you're feeling brave - do a dietary challenge (have some pasta - not bread since it has other things you could react to) and see how it goes.

I have the same problem. My gliadin IgG is 52.0 (ref 0-10) but everything else is normal. I have terrible GI symptoms as well as fatigue and moodiness. Plus there's a family history of celiac disease. I can't find any other condition linked to levels like these either. I have an appointment with my doctor in two days, so if I find anything further, I'll update, but I read a study that said about 20% of celiac disease cases are shown to be IgA deficient, so we could just be a part of that lucky percentage.

Did they run TOTAL IgA to see if you are deficient?

I had the same blood test results, but was gluten-free at the time of the test.

Also wondering if it could have something to do with Eastern European/Jewish heredity????

I also was diagnosed by IgG and positive response to the diet. I later found out I had one of the genes as well (HLA DQ8).

      Cold/flu or gluten poisoning? Hello. I've had another similar episode. I find it very difficult to differentiate between the symptoms of a cold or flu and those caused by gluten poisoning. In fact, I don't know if my current worsening is due to having eaten something that disagreed with me or if the cold I have has caused my body, which is hypersensitive, to produce symptoms similar to those of gluten poisoning.

      I'm no longer dealing with constipation. I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

      Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

      If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.
