Baltimore?

Heading to Baltimore for Saturday night - last minute trip.

Need a place to grab dinner that night - and a possibility for breakfast/lunch Sunday morning.

I'll be staying across from Camden Yards - about 3 blocks from Inner Harbor.

Last time I was there I went to the California Pizza Kitchen - where a hot fudge sundae was all they could feed me.

Any suggestions?!

It would only be two of us dining, so small place or large place wouldn't matter........Thanks!

Down there in the inner harbour most places should be able to make something for you (sea food is big) and I know there is an Outback and a Mexican place that have gluten-free menus. Enjoy the city, AmyBeth- it's fabulous.

www.austingrill.com is a Washington DC local chain and has a location in Baltimore. I don't know exactly where it is, but there is info on their webpage. They have a gluten free menu and it is online. They also do brunch on the weekends.

Enjoy :)

I'm not familiar with too many places in the Inner Harbor area, but definitely check out Austin Grill's website. I've been to the one in Bethesda and their food was AWESOME! Then again, I love Mexican food.

Thanks for your advice!

We ended up going to McCormick and Schmick's (sp?) M&S Grill. It's right along the Harbor. The managerial staff was awesome - spoke directly to the chef and TOTALLY made me feel 100% confident that I would be taken care of. Great meal --- shrimp cocktail, salad with balsamic dressing, and scallops in white wine butter sauce. (This was NOT on their menu). The manager assured me that the chef, Adam, was very familiar with food intolerances, and he was right. Not a single problem. The side dishes (veggies) were without sauce and seasoning, so I felt totally safe!

Only problem - was the only dessert they could offer was some ice cream, but I was so full from dinner that wasn't even necessary!

Before I left I asked to speak with the management and thanked them for making me feel secure and relaxed while dining there - they were so appreciative! They gave us free cookbooks on our way out the door.

On Sunday morning, we hit Austin Grill - A short drive from the harbor - and with their own free 3 hour parking. An Outback steakhouse was in the same shopping center.

I ordered the Migas Plate. - it was ok. They have a printed gluten-free menu, and it was helpful with placing my order.

However, my vegetarian friend ordered a dish with refried beans and come to find out they use a pork broth in the beans!!!!!!!!! The black beans were fine, but she was not feeling too well (she doesn't tolerate meat well anymore) and couldn't believe they added meat to the beans. HUH?!!?!?!?

I was pleased (and full!) with my dining experiences in Baltimore!

Glad to hear you had a great dining experience. I was down Inner Harbor in July after John was to see his oncologist at Hopkins. I ddin't have a lot of time to look for something and we ended up getting fries. Hopefully when we go for his next appointment I will find something good.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
