My Dating Dilemma Solved!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the responses from my post yesterday regarding eating out at resteraunts with friends and dates. I talked to the guy I am seeing and mentioned that it hurt my feelings when he called my diet weird and suggests/tempts me with foods I cannot eat. It is not worth being sick over and it is far easier for him to find a healthy place for me to eat than it is going to a pizza joint (i am the one being inconvienenced afterall). He told me he had no idea it bothered me so much and he wouldn't mention it again and apologized numerous times. I suggested cooking a yummy meal at his place or watching a movie for tomorrow night and he was delighted! He just wants to spend time with me- the food thing is more of an issue for me. I am so hypersensitive! All I had to do was stand my ground and tell him that it really does harm my body to eat some of the things he eats and i have been lax about it because I don't want to be a pest or a pain for him. I cannot do this anymore! I can't control the foods that negatively affect my body and this is the way life has to be for me so he has to accept it. He assured me that he really likes me and how the relationship is going and he is willing to accomodate for me and not criticize or talk about it. I feel so much better! I realized that he won't like me more if i drink beer and eat pizza, pasta, bread, and ice cream. He likes ME and NOT my food choices. Thanks for letting me vent for those reading and responding.

Good for you and for him! I need to be as assertive with my husband... It's hard to tell someone who doesn't understand anything about what we have what we are going through.

As for the beer, Anheiser Busch has a new Gluten Free Beer called Redbridge and I hear that some bars, etc are starting to carry it.... YEA!

Sounds like a great guy. Maybe you could make some gluten-free meal, steak and potatoes, stir fry, chicken or chili and enjoy a nice meal at home and a movie. I am glad this turned out well for you.

Glad the conversation turned out so well. I says a lot about both of you and your relationship that you can talk about things and communicate well. It is both good and bad to have to deal with touchy subjects early in a relationship. On one hand, life isn't always easy and how people react during the bad times is often more important than how they act during good times. On the other hand, it can be uncomfortable to have a discussion with someone that you don't know well. Glad he reacted well, sounds like he is one of the good ones. Have fun on your stay-in date!

Congratulations! I'm glad it turned out so well and that you had the courage to confront the issue. If you enjoyed spending time with him, it couldn't have been much fun for you to keep feeling sick.

Definitely a keeper! :) I'm still trying to convince my husband that crumbs matter.

He takes this as serious as I do. We are very lucky to have each other because no matter what we will always be there for each other. My son also seems to be quite sensitive to this also. The other night we were having hamburgers and I asked him to pass the ketchup. He asked me if it was ok for him to touch the ketchup bottle because he had a regular hamburger bun and did not want me to touch the bottle then touch my food. I thank god for the both of them. I'm still quite new to celiac and at first when I found this extremely overwhelming I always had them to turn to.

My husband is very supportive of my celiac diet. He even eats the same foods as I do around the house. He has changed many habits in his life that may cause me harm such as cross-contamination. He takes this as serious as I do. We are very lucky to have each other because no matter what we will always be there for each other. My son also seems to be quite sensitive to this also. The other night we were having hamburgers and I asked him to pass the ketchup. He asked me if it was ok for him to touch the ketchup bottle because he had a regular hamburger bun and did not want me to touch the bottle then touch my food. I thank god for the both of them. I'm still quite new to celiac and at first when I found this extremely overwhelming I always had them to turn to.

My husband is good about it too. I do buy him "real" bread for snadwiches and toast but that's about it. I figure he can eat out as much as he wants and get all the gluten he's craving then. He said he actually likes less carbs at dinner, kind of puts him on the Adkins! He can't eat onions without reacting so I've been cooking onion free since marrying him, he kind of gets it because of that I think.

      Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding

      I think I found a huge culprit for severe reactions to create worsening of my c symptoms. Do people with celiac have sensitivity and /or have opposite reaction to certain medications Where can I find a list ?  I'm new here I'm.wondering why I am getting worse when I take certain medicine...the burning feet.  Rebound muscle pain so intense  How many people get opposite effects or have a horrible attack after these meds

      Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️

      Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…
