Any "safe" Restaurants In San Jose Area?

Okaaaay. Um, can anybody recommend which grocery and/or health food stores I can go to to buy gluten-free ingredients?

There are several Whole Food Markets in and around San Jose/Los Gatos, etc. which carry gluten-free stuff as well as their own line of Gluten-Free Bakery items. Also Trader Joe's.

Beehive is a healthfood store near Oakridge mall and they carry Kninnicknick stuff and other gluten-free stuff.

As far as restaurants, I don't eat out at restaurants a lot, but I just ate at Outback this week and my waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten (that was the one at Pruneyard). They have a gluten-free menu.

PF Chang's also has a gluten-free menu, but I have not eaten at any of them. :(

Maggiano's will prepare your dish with gluten-free pasta--not sure if you need to let them know in advance, but I guess it wouldn't hurt. I haven't eaten there either though.

Sorry I couldn't be of much help. :(

I went to a Thai restaurant in San Jose on a street off of Market (either Hedding or 2nd). I'm sorry that I can't remember the name, but there were two Thai restaurants on that street. There was one on the corner of a business building, and they looked totally oblivious when I asked them about gluten, so we left. But then I went to the other Thai restaurant (that had a pergola built within the restaurant), and spoke with the waitress about my intolerances and showed her a restaurant card and they made me a delicious meal from which I had no side effects whatsoever. It's really just hit or miss, but I'd definitely go back to that place in the future.

There is a place called "The Soka Kitchen" Socca? Anyway I don't quite remember, but though it has a limited menu it is completely 100% gluten free, soy free, dairy free, and free of a lot of other things as well. Made while you wait. Great food! Good luck. I imagine the Bay Area is one of the easiest places to find gluten-free food in.

      Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

      Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have.It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

      @Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

      Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system
