Can Corn Make You Feel Bloated?

:( I had corn tortilla chips today and ever since then I have felt really bloated (don't eat dairy). I am wondering if the corn has anything to do with it. I was thinking about eliminating corn from my diet, no more chips and salsa, for a while to see if I feel better. I haven't had much bloating since today, but my head has been really foggy latley. My short term memory has been terrible. I have posted before about this but nothing seems like it has gotten any better. I sleep enough, exercise sometimes, take vitamins like I should but am not feeling the way I THINK I should. What should I do?

Corn is another biggie for sensitivites. Cut it out for a couple weeks then indulge (when you don't have any plans to go out) and see what happens.

I'll tell you my story. It may or may not help <_< I went gluten-free back in December. Things were initially great, the diarrhea stopped, some things got dramatically better in a matter of days, other symptoms took and are taking longer to resolve themselves. But a couple weeks ago the diarrhea came back. It wasn't as bad as before, or as often, but enough to make me wonder what I was eating. I started to get the sense from the timing that corn chips and tortilla chips might be an issue so I cut as much corn out of my diet as I could - the obvious stuff like tortillas, Fritos, corn itself, baking mixes with corn in them. I'd gone on that way for about four days getting better each day. Then without thinking one afternoon I ate some organic microwave popcorn. Nothing much to it but corn butter and salt. Six minutes after the first handful the popcorn went through me. It seems I can tolerate things like corn syrup, corn starch, corn oil as ingredients, but not corn or corn meal or corn flour. I think I've heard people with similar stories here as well.

It seems to do bad things to some of us. :( If I eat corn, popcorn, corn meal or corn flour, I get MAJOR stomach issues.

Corn syrup and smaller amounts of corn starch don't seem to cause stomach problems for me, but they definitely cause fatigue, brain fog, and depression.

So I avoid it in all forms...

Debbie

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.

I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum. Iodate is reduced in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed as iodide [2,5]."  That would certainly include malabsorption of Iodine due to Celiac Disease with resultant Iodine Deficiency. Vegans and people who eat few or no dairy products, seafood, and eggs People who do not use iodized salt Pregnant women People with marginal iodine status who eat foods containing goitrogens Deficiencies of iron and/or vitamin A may also be goitrogenic [51] https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-HealthProfessiona   1
