The french fries are gluten free. I order mine "well done and cheesy"

Talk to a manager and they will make your burger separately (otherwise the buns can cross contaminate)

Here is how I order mine

"Double Double with cheese, protein style, no sauce....cheesy fries well done".

the sauce isnt gluten free???

The sauce would be gluten free, except they slap it on with a spatula out of a vat, then the spatula goes back in the vat, etc...so it gets a lot of CC from the buns. The ketchup and mustard are in squeeze bottles and are gluten free.

I order mine : Double-Double, protein style, ketchup & mustard instead of sauce (sometimes with, sometimes without onion). This is about the only time I ever eat cheese, but it is so worth it!

I love their burgers. I only have a few fries that I steal from my kids. They are gluten free, but I try to limit my unhealthy fats, and the burger with cheese is plenty! The drinks and shakes are also gluten free. Pretty much everything but the buns and anything that comes in contact with the buns...

FYI,

you can also order it this way

"Double Double, Flying Dutchman, cheesy fries well done" -- flying dutchman means just meat and cheese, nothing else

or this way

"3 by 4, flying dutchman, cheesy fries, well done" - this means 3 pieces of meat, 4 pieces of cheese, jus meat and cheese...

LOL

google "In N Out Burger Secret Menu" and have fun...

Okay, I've got to ask...cheesy fries well done? Is this extra crispy fries with cheese on them? My kids would love the extra crispy fries, but not the cheese. My boys don't eat cheese. They never have and they even hate the smell of cheese. Now milk, yogurt, ice cream, shakes, and pretty much any dairy product is fine. But not cheese. Weird kids huh? ;)

My kids like to order the Z-burger protein style! That is just meat with nothing on it (zero toppings hense the Z) wrapped in lettuce. Some of them eat the lettuce, others eat the meat out of the lettuce and usually I eat their extra lettuce. My daughter who does like cheese won't eat the cheese there. She likes cheddar, rarely eats american cheese. I don't think she likes the texture on the burger. To me it is pure heaven! Cheese is the main dairy food I miss being dairy free. That is why I treat myself to it occasionally at In-N-Out.

Yeah,

You can simply order the fries "well done" and they will make them crispy.

I just like the melted cheese on top of them too :)

I use to work at in n out for 5 years. You do need to be careful on the protein burger as

well. When working the board the same person touches the same burger buns all day

and then touches the lettuce wrap. Same as the cook, touching the buns and the meat. If

you do get protein style ask for ketchup and they have mustard packets ask for those instead

because some board associates will spread the ketchup and mustard on the lettuce wrap with the same spatula and not just squirt it on. Animal stlye fries are good too. With spread, mustard and cheese and grilled onions..mmmmmmmm.... I miss those burgers that I use to eat everyday

that i worked there. They also have banana peppers that are good too.:(

My brother has worked for IN-N-Out for over 20 years! We just recently found out that we have celiacs and of course I called him to ask...everything I read is correct, but there was one thing missing. In-N-Out is founded on customer service. If you let them know that you have a severe reaction to products containing gluten and ask that they use fresh gloves for handling food and new utensils, they will be glad to accomadate you! so if you like the sauce....just ask they use a new spatula! happy eating! :D

if you really like the sauce, you can ask for a side of the special sauce, it is packaged in a to go packet like mustard...safe from touching the grill of the spat

I can't remember which one I went to, but they opened a fresh tub of sauce, grabed a clean spatula and slathered the sauce on the fries right in front of me. I know it looked like overkill to the people behind me but it kept me from getting sick.

Is the sauce soy & casein free too? I'd love to have some on fries, & I didn't know they had individual serving-size packets of it!

FYI

I was just recently diagnosed celiac and read about in n out on this forum.

I was just at in n out and there is major cross contamination, although they grill the buns on a "separate" grill, they finish it off on top of the burger on the MAIN grill where they grill the protein style burgers.

I spoke with the employees there and explained my situation but there was not much to do because this is how they do it there.

If you are sensitive at all to gluten BEWARE! I get sick for 2 days from stuff like this..

I would stay away from in n out, don't get me wrong I LOVE IN N OUT, but if you don't want to get sick keep it in mind..

I can't really find any ready made food spot that is NOT cross contaminated....

I order a cheeseburger, protein style, with ketchup, mustard, onions, and I think tomato. Fries, too.

I REQUEST that they change GLOVES and prepare mine on a clean TRAY and NOT on the counter.

I request that they use a clean grill and utensils.

If I'm ordering with other people, I order separately so nothing will touch their bun.

If I order with others TO GO or in drive thru , I request SEPARATE BAGS to avoid cc with buns.

I have to say, I moved to the East coast this summer and I thought I'd miss In N Out, but FIVE GUYS ROCKS! Wa-aaay better. THe fries, the grilled array of toppings, the free peanuts, all of it!

I would say from experience that I am definitely reacting to gluten. I do also react to soy but slightly differently, shorter time period with tell tale signs. I appreciate all of your advice Knitty Kitty. I am low on Vitamin D and I have asked my gp about Thiamine who advised that we don’t do blood tests for that in the UK. I also feel like my thyroxine meds aren’t working correctly now too. Perhaps with the damage? But I will take your advice seriously as you live and learn so much. We all know our own bodies and we all have our own symptoms and experiences.  I am on a waiting list for an Ataxia specialist here in the UK. I must have Been Celiac long before being diagnosed as they diagnosed me with MS in 2004 and neurologist is now saying it has been Ataxia from gluten all along.  It has been a learning curve for me and it is so surprising how little is actually known about this by neurologists and other medical professionals, with some unable to even pronounce it correctly. I have studied hard over the 4 years and written to experts to gain knowledge. Having said that, this site is great to find comfort in fellow Celiacs and to feel like you’re not the only one 😊

Found out the the HCTZ doesn't have gluten in it.  But for me it made my sodium level drop so low, I ended up in hospital.  So it is gluten free, but didn't help my blood pressure levels. Everyone is different.

You are right, it does say that it doesn't contain gluten: https://www.gaviscon.ie/products/gaviscon-advance-aniseed-flavor-liquid/   Is there any chance you have a sensitivity to one of its many other ingredients?
