Celiac Symptoms?

Hi all, I am new to this forum. My mom, oldest sister and niece all have Celiac disease. I am just wondering what kind of symptoms everybody has. I have no idea if I have it or not, but I have symptoms such as abdominal pain and bloating, muscle aches, canker sores, and intense skin itching and intermittent diarrhea. I have had most of these symptom all of my life, but have just recently made an appointment to see an internist. I am interested to see what symptoms other people have.

Hi there!!! If you do have Celiac, you have plenty of family members to guide you along the Gluten Free path!!! Consider yourself lucky;)--I'm the only person in my family who has it.

I was diagnosed this July, but began showing symptoms in March, which were nausea, vomiting, constipation/diarrhea (depending on which day it was/what my intestinal tract was doing). I couldn't make it through meals, which primarily of...GLUTEN. Our family had not known this at the time, and thought I had psychological problems--my father even told me that some girls can simply think about throwing up and then do so. When I tested positive for Antigliadin antibodies (IgG), everything changed.

That's my story--welcome to the forum!!! This board gives everyone tremendous support, and these members have gotten me through the most difficult period in my life.

My Symptoms were (in order of severity): cramping stomach, vomiting, bloating, gas, diarrhea, low weight.

Hi Twister. That's one of the strange things about Celiac, is not all patients have the same symptoms - some have no symptoms at all! Certainly though, the most common are probably diarrhea and bloating.

I do recommend however, that if your internist says you do not have Celiac, that you get a second opinion from a gastroenterologist who is familiar and experienced with Celiac Disease. Because of your family history, and your symptoms, I strongly suspect you have it.

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can...

      Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

      We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
