I'm looking for corn meal that's free from cross contamination. Any suggestions?

Our family does fine with Bob's Red Mill products.

There are some that don't though. They carry a lot of different "flours".

We've had CC issues with Bob's so I get corn meal and corn flour from Open Original Shared Link when I order their hamburger muffins. There is a $10 shipping fee - maybe a support group near you orders as a "group" and you can get in on it? I also buy xanthan gum and a loaf of bread and rice bran when I order from them so my order gets big.

We did also buy Hogdson's Mill brand but then the stopped making corn meal for a while, then they changed their packaging when it finally came back out, putting it in a glued up box instead of an old fashioned paper covering (like wheat flour has). I was suspicious over the glue they used but I got used to buying Kinnikinnick while they took away their product.

I can't use Bob's Red Mill because they have nut cross contamination (nut allergy) - plus read a lot about gluten issues with them too.

I was nervous to use Hodgson's Mill because they do a lot of gluten containing flours. Maybe I'll give them a call.

I use Kinnikinnick too. I also order all of my flours from them as I think they taste the best. The $10 shipping actually saves me money because I order like $100 worth of flour when I place my order, that would be very expensive to ship if I didn't order through them. Kinnikinnick is a gluten free facility, so there should be no problems with cross contamination. :) Also, their cinnamon buns, bagels, breads, and donuts are amazing!!! It's definitely worth placing a big order. The K-toos are pretty great too.

Kinnickinnick looks great, but they have nuts in their facility and don't have a protocol to keep them separate (per the website) so we can't use them.

Also they have pea protein in everything and my son is allergic to peas, which is another cc concern.

Maybe I'll look on the gluten free mall and see what they have. I was surprised Miss Robens doesn't seem to have any.

OMG Thanks for the heads up about Bob's Red Mill. My nephew has a severe peanut allergy. I make corn bread muffins all the time and he eats them like they are cookies. There is NO - may contain traces or nuts on the label. The only ingredients listed are 100% whole grain corn. It NEVER occured to me that traces of nuts could be in 100% CORN.

I will be calling the company tommorrow and other companies that carry cornmeal. My nephew loves the muffins as much as me. It is definately not worth the risk if they can kill him.

Nut CC is important to avoid then.

I don't believe that Kinnickinnick 's corn meal or corn flour has pea protein in it, but I'll check it out as my husband can't have the pea or bean flour either. I believe the meal and flour is pure corn but yes, you will have to avoid it due to nut cross contamination then.

It's difficult to find gluten-free corn meal and flour without nut cc.... I recently found corn bran but I cannot state that there's no nut cc.

sorry - I should have been more clear - they have a tree nut x-contam problem (almonds, specifically).

But the fact remains there is no warning and there should be because they know there is a risk. I know they're not legally obliged to put a warning on there, but they should feel morally obliged given they know it's people with allergies buying their stuff.

It's organic (non-GMO), which is what I need for corn products. Perhaps there website has some info, or you can email them. I haven't looked, and the bag doesn't say anything about being processed with other stuff.

I recall with Arrowhead that when questionned, you never get the same gluten-free information twice.

Sometimes they say Yes sometimes they said possible cross contamination. etc.

      Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

      Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

      Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

      Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
