Anyone Just Have Diarrhea As Symptom?

Well, this is what led me into the doc's office...turns out I also was anemic and had elevated liver enzymes (but obviously didn't know those until I had the blood test done).

Anyway, I had this symptom about 6 years ago and after a colonoscopy and upper GI, the doc just dx'd me with IBS. I tried a few meds, but essentially just knew that if I were going to eat my "trigger foods", we'd be going home right after (so I didn't have to deal with embarrassing gas, etc in public).

Well, I just had my 3rd child and stopped nursing him and got diarrhea again. This time, they're saying it's celiac. I trust my doc, obviously, but just have a hard time accepting this dx I guess. I don't have any pain or any other symptoms (besides occasional bloating or gas, but doesn't everybody?).

Anyway, anyone else in my boat? And does anyone know the long-term consequences of anemia and elevated liver enzymes?

Diarrhea was the beginning for me. It then led to severe dehydration, fatigue, vomiting, migraines, irritability, etc. etc. If you have been diagnosed before getting other symptoms, you are very lucky! :)

This was pretty much my only symptom as well. Felt lucky to have a dx within six months after reading about others on this board.

diarrea and gas are my only two symptoms and ive dealt with them for the last 25 or so years thats why going gluten free is soo friggin hard, i almost think l lived with the symptoms so long i got used to them.my wife and co-workers on the other hand , not so much..lol good luck to you

The big "D" along with gas and bloating are my only symptoms. I feel fine otherwise.

      I'm very confused... My blood test came out negative, I checked all antibodies. I suppose my Total IgA levels are normal (132 mg/dl), so the test should be reliable. Still, I'm not relieved as I can't tolerate even a single biscuit. I need to talk to my doctor about whether a duodenal biopsy is necessary. But it is really possible to have intestinal damage despite having a seronegative results? I have really strong symptoms, and I don't want to keep skipping university lectures or being bedridden at home.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.
