Ok, ok, so you're probably all sick of seeing my new posts, but so many questions!!

I know that many of you have suffered from fatigue or other various things not necessarily listed on the items of symptoms for Celiac Disease. However, aside from Fatigue, I occassionaly notice that I run out of breath pretty quickly..running up two flights of stairs.

Now take note this may all be due to my lack of exercise in the past few months. (As running, stir the bowels which causes abomdinal pain..AHH!!) so I think my lungs just may be out of shape.

Anyone else suffer from this? Its great I've lost weight, but I'd rather be back to exercising and do it that way..

Thanks!

I have fatigue too but not sure if it's related to Celiac or something else. I am sure Celiac could cause fatigue as your body could be malnorished and fighting against itself.

I hope you begin to feel better soon!

I'm not certain how long you've been on a gluten-free diet, but I noticed in the beginning that by cutting out the breads, pastas, cereals, etc. (easy carbs) that I was more tired than usual too. Exercising became very difficult. What I could do easily before, become a struggle, etc. Once I began to eat more normally, this seemed to go away. Try snacking on something like nuts (I love cashews! Lol!) in between meals to keep your metabolism up but not cause energy spikes (like chips and candy do.)

Just a suggestion. B)

Thanks for the replies. I'm not gluten-free right now. but I know the lack of carbs will zap it energy from you intially.

I was still excercising before i finally went gluten-free and I also noticed that before the diagnosis, in the span of two months I went from dancing everyday practically allday, I could barely run on the treadmill for 5 minutes without heaving. Then it all started to go downhill really fast. Fatigue so that i could not even lift my arms and sometimes i thought i did not have enough energy to stand up.

According to Dr. Cynthia Rudert, fatigue is the MOST COMMON symptom. Not diarrhea -- fatigue. It was my first one.

My shortness of breath continued to persist until I dropped dairy. I think dairy effects my lungs.

I have the same tightness in my chest. It started in march with shortness of breath, numb feeling in face, chest tightness, muscle weakness and the feeling of a fluttering heart. My husband called 911. The ER said it was anxiety. This as been going on since 3-20-04, gave me a relaxer and sent me home. At a follow up visit with my own MD, I was walking down the hall to leave his office and my body went limp. I was admitted for observation. All the MRI,CT, EEG came out normal. Pseudo seizures is what they suspected along w/depression.With this I did not agree. The one thing that was found was that I was aneimic. I was active at work, H.S. special ed, gym 4x's week, and having a normal active life with my husband and 3 kids. I postponed my monthly dues to the gym because I was on the treadmill and stepped off the side and went down.

I diagnoised w/celiac disease in july.

I was taken by ambulance again when I tryed to return to work after summer break. I lasted 3 days. This SUX!! I want my active life back. Sweeping the floor is enough at times to do my in. The doctor told me after the spell that I can not drive anymore. I am 39 yrs old. My kids are 3, 7, 14 yrs. I hurts me to tell them we can't plan something later on the day or the next, because one minute i'm fine up and talking, the next minute starting to pass out. OH MY!! I did not mean to carry on and feel sorry for myself this longggggg. Thank you anyways for listening.

I feel like my thoughts are all over the place. I hope this all makes since.

I just posted on "What were your first symptoms? I suffered with utter fatigue, abnormal heart rhythms, breathlessness, etc. Didn't get any relief until I went to a hemotologist doctor and was diagnosed with extreme anemia. I had to get an iron fusion which was the beginning of my recovery. All my problems were related to Celiac Sprue. I never had any bowel problems.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
