For those of you who haven't tried the new Kinnikinnick waffles, I urge you to give them a shot. They're gluten, casein, soy, yeast, nut, and potato free and they are delicious! These are probably some of the best waffles I've ever had, pre-dx included. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting this! I'm going to ask my local health food store to order some!

I just ordered two boxes last night--can't wait to try them! Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks for the info! I was just on their website and saw them and hesitated to order them, now I will from your testimonial, I am ready for a WOW waffle experience. I just ordered 6 bags of various flavors of their donuts, can you tell I'm in a comfort food/sugar mood? I'm counting the days til they arrive! I also ordered their cinnamon buns which I have never had, hope they are as good as the donuts are. The donuts are my major splurge, they feel so indulgent for gluten-free food.

The cinnamon buns are AMAZING!!! I serve them warmed and my family just loves them.

jmengert Enthusiast

A tip for the cinnamon buns--when I could still have dairy, I took the brown sugar/cinnamon Philly cream cheese flavor and put that on top after I warmed up the bun--oh my goodness. So good! As close to a Cinnabon as I'll ever have again!

I order online at www.kinnikinnick.com. It's $10 flat rate shipping no matter how much you buy. I generally stock up on bread, donuts, bagels, and flour when I order. Their flour is by far the best that I've tried.

Glutenfreefamily Enthusiast

Do they contain egg? If they dont I would love to try them.

Thanks Angie!

Thanks Angie!

If you want to wait, I order from Kinnikinnick once every other month or so. I don't spend the full $200 usually which is what the maximum for the $10 shipping is. If you want to wait I'll order you stuff on my next order and you can just pay me when you pick it up. Might as well since we live so close together.

I ordered the waffles and they were defrosted when delivered. Are they still OK to eat?

jmengert Enthusiast

Yep--mine are always defrosted when I get them, and I eat them *all* the time (too much!), and they're fine.

Enjoy!

Would you re-freeze them after being defrosted for those 3 days in transit?

Rosebud710 Apprentice

Thanks for the tip! I eat Van's which are good, but I've got to try K's!

You know, I'd love to tour their plant and find out how they can make gluten-free foods taste as good as food with gluten! I love their donuts and the K-Toos. I keep hearing wonderful things about their bread, flours, etc. I wish I'd live near you guys in PA - I'd go in with you on the orders ;) !

Yes, I just refreeze them as soon as I get them. I will say, though, that once I took them on a plane trip with me, defrosted for a few days, and they were fine. I think they're supposed to be frozen simply because they don't have any preservatives and can mold easily--there's really nothing in them to make them go "bad" if they're not frozen.

I have got to find these waffles!!!

jkmunchkin Rising Star

I love these! I posted about them when I tried them back in the Spring at a vendor fair, but I think they have just become available. I have 2 boxes in my freezer - plain and brown sugar :)

Thank you so much! I saw some tips around the forum to make a food diary and now that I know that the community also struggles with corn, egg and soy, the puzzle pieces came together! Just yesterday I tried eating eggs and yes, he’s guilty and charged. Those there are my 3 combo nausea troublemakers. I’m going to adjust my diet ☺️ Also thank you for the information about MCAS! I’m from South America and little it’s talked about it in here. It’s honestly such a game changer now for treatment and recovery. I know I’m free from SIBO and Candida since I’ve been tested for it, but I’m still going to make a endoscopy to test for H. Pylori and Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Thank you again!! Have a blessed weekend 🤍

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!
