It's too late to call the company. Does anyone know if this sausage is gluten free?

Thanks

I just received the following e-mail from Owen's Sausage......

I know some celiac's are also sensitive to MSG as well, but I have never heard of MSG giving off a gluten by-product........is this true? does anybody know? Can MSG affect celiac's just like gluten?

Any info will be appreciated. Thanks,

Our parent company, Bob Evans Farms does not have us on a gluten free list for several reasons. Our breakfast sausage, has a small amount of MSG in it and sometimes during the MSG process, it produces a gluten by product. Our regular, mild, hot & sage sausage and our packaged ham does not have any wheat, rye, barley or oats in it.

Since people with Celiac Disease have flare ups from different things,so we can't honestly say that our products are gluten free. I have talked with many people who has numerous people in their family with this condition and they all eat our sausage with no problems.

I hope this has answered your question.

THIS IS FROM A 2005 POST FROM THIS SITE FOUND ON GOOGLE. The MSG statement is curious to me. But, this is before the labeling laws were in effect.

It would be my assumption that they would be safe to eat. Not reading the lable, I can't confirm it. I have not seen too many sausages with gluten in it.

By law, any wheat is required to be listed. That leaves rye, barley, malt, and oats, which to me, are not often used in a product like sausage.

Personally, I'd eat it.

I had 3 patties of mild Owen's Sausage and hope there are no wheat by-products anywhere in this food source. But Mainly I think most people don't realize how serious trying to live a Gluten-Free lifestyle and live longer from it because most people are just plain ignorant. Read Wheat Belly. It is written by William Davis MD. I trust this source because it has tons of evidence and information that gives many references that are educating and helpful to anyone who wants to avoid wheat and wheat products in our foods, cosmetics, drugs and other processed foods. This single book has been the one that has lead me on my Gluten-Free journey.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
