Girl Scout Service Project

Hello,

I have a Girl Scout Troop that has made about 100 cards and is now collecting unwanted or extra Halloween Candy in order to make Christmas-y bundles to send to our troops, along with the cards. I've started looking around online and found Fisher Houses in the U.S. where wounded soldiers families stay near medical centers. Anyway I emailed one about our project with no response back.

I'm just not sure how to go about mailing this stuff so that it gets to the soldiers. I'm not real trusting of online sources so I need some advice. Does anyone know how I go about finding out addresses to send to and/or the procedures for sending cards and candy to the troops?

Please help us so we can brighten a few soldiers days!

Thanks,

Joni

Joni,

I think we have a few members here that are military wives, with their spouses posted in Iran.

My husband's office has collected leftover (and whatever you can pry out of your children's hands) Halloween candy. They send it to Operation Gratitude. They've done this the last two years and it's a company of about 3000 employees so I would have hoped somebody checked to make sure it's legit.

And our cub scouts made arrangements to ship popcorn (of course!) to a military nurse (one of the scout's mom) in Germany. Then she distributed it throughout the hospital.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
