Butter And Gluten Free Stuffing?

Heidi Mighty Mo

At the last minute we invited some new friends over for Christmas dinner and I found out that she has a gluten intolerance, so far, some things I have found seem pretty easy solutions but the other problem is that she can't have dairy. I hope no one minds that I joined here (even though I do not have Celiac Desease) so I could ask this question. I know it is last minute, that is also the reason I haven't searched the whole board for the answer because I simply don't have the time. So much to do today! :)

My question is if Olive Oil would be a good substitute for butter since I do not keep margarine on hand.

I want her to enjoy this dinner too so I am doing what I can to make it work. Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Welcome. There are many who come on and ask questions as friends, relatives, etc. of those who have celiac disease. You can use Earthbalance Spread. It comes in a tub and is available in many mainstream stores. If you have a healthfoof store or somewhere like Whole Foods nearby they sell ghee, which is clarified butter, that is certified casien free. Or olive oil would work too.

Understand that even the equivalent of a single breadcrumb can make us quite ill. Not to overwhelm you but gluten can be hidden in even the most ususpecting products. Don't be afraid to ask questions of your friend and make it known to her that you are comfortable with her asking questions. Communication is important.

Good luck.

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
