Lactose Or Sugar Intolerance

I just had a hot chocolate that I made myself and before I could finish it, I am BLOATED big time.

Before I started drinking it, I took 2 enzymes.

I'm a little new at this. Does anyone take those lactose enzymes for lactose intolerance?

I'm still trying to figure out if I have a gluten intolerance or if I have a carbohydrate intolerance. I can eat a tortilla (made at home) and not get this bloated although the next day may be another story, but by then I can't tell if it's related.

I'm soooo confused. :unsure::blink:

Since it was immediate, does that provide a clue to which one it was?

Unless I miss my guess, the enzymes would have to get down into the small intestine before the food, so it may not work if the food comes down too soon behind the enzymes.

Anyway, enzymes or not, I believe many on this board will suggest avoiding all dairy for awhile. Apparently, the damage to the small intestine often means a lactose intolerance, which can subside over time if you are gluten-free.

In place of the dairy milk, I'd suggest a nut milk, such as almond, cashew, pecan, walnut, etc, or soy or rice milk, if you can have one of those.

I'm wondering how long it takes stuff to get to the small intestine. It happened so fast. I'm not sure it was a lactose deficiency because it's like the reaction started in my stomach, not the small intestine where the villi are. Something to definitely think about.

      Yarrow Pom works really well with the skin issues I found out.I had to stop so my doterra because dealing with medical celiac circus. I had shingles in Feb 2023. Prayers for healing

      I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers.
