Help!

My teeth are so sensitive and are killing me right now. They are making my whole mouth hurt and chewing gum makes it worse.

Does anyone else have problems with their teeth/gums?

Yes, I have mild to moderate gingivitis despite brushing and flossing diligently and I have gums receding on a couple of teeth and that has really caused them to be sensitive. I have just recently switched to a gluten-free diet, so am hoping to see some improvement! Has anyone seen improvement to gum health that has been gluten-free for a while?

Yes, I had issues with my gums and teeth, but it was not from gingivitis in my case. For me it was acid reflux. I didn't even know it was acid reflux until my doctor figured it out. I would wake up sometimes and my nose would burn like crazy, like it was extremely dried out. Never any pain in my throat. Sometimes I would wake up coughing from aspirating acid into my lungs.

Other times I would wake up and my teeth and gums would hurt pretty bad. My gums would be pretty sensitive for a while. Flossing always meant blood. My reflux resolved once i removed gluten, casein, and soy from my diet. My teeth and gums are much better! :)

Don't know that your issue is related to reflux, but just a thought.

It's not fun at all! I was detoxing and my teeth felt fine. Now I've really upped my wheat/gluten usage per day because I'm going to get my Iga and IGg levels checked in less than a month. Since then, teeth in pain. They hurt so bad that they give me a "referred pain" to my tongue. So irritating.

I wonder about that acid reflux. I burp a lot, but I don't really have burning. Sometimes when I burp, though, I litterally have some throw up in my mouth. My throat will burn off and on - but I don't have tonsils and it's not that I'm "sick." How would I know about the acid reflux?

Tooth enamel problems are not uncommon in people who've had celiac since they were a child, but didn't know about it. Nutritional deficiencies (even minor ones) can cause the enamel to form improperly.

Ok, so if you have tooth enamel problems, is this what causes the sensitivities? Or what function does the enamel serve? Sorry this is problem such a stupid question, but I honestly don't know! I've been told I am probably nutrient deficient because of my burning mouth and sore internal oral tissues.

My dentist added a tooth desensitizer to my teeth. It last for about three weeks. He also said, make sure you choose paste over gel. Good luck

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
