Well, now there has been a change in plans. I have been feeling SO sick all weekend--ever since I took this lactose intolerance test. Then yesterday I had intense pain when I came home from work around 5 p.m. ...I stayed home sick and fortunately was able to move my upper endoscopy to 3:30 p.m. today.

I will find out soon if I have an ulcer, Crohn's Disease or Celiac Disease...it's kind of nerve wracking! Even if I don't have Celiac Disease, should I continue the gluten-free diet? I have fibromyalgia, supposedly. I have only been on the diet for a day or two.

YES do continue the diet after the endo, don't wait for the results. There are times when even the endo can miss us, the best way to know for sure is to do the diet for a couple of months. I hope everything goes well today.

Well, I won't get the results about the Crohn's and Celiac Disease until next week. My gastro specialist says I need to complain to the state and my general doc for not getting a referral....

He evaluated me and told me I have a hiatal hernia and Gastritis and Reflux Disease (GERD). I have a "distal esphagus" and further tests will be need to be done (this particular thing could indicate Barett's Esophagus). The gastritis could be Peptic Ulcer Disease (maybe from my long term use of NSAIDS?).

So I know some stuff, but there is a lot I don't know.

I am glad you made it through everything well. Be aware that the findings he has already had can be celiac related and if they are they will clear up on the diet. If the doctor handed you some scripts make real sure when you take them that they are gluten free. Ask the pharmacist to give you the info sheet when you fill the scripts and then call the phone number on the sheet and ask yourself. Unfortunately pharms sometimes assume everything is alright when it isn't. Generic drugs are the biggest risk but even OTC stuff can get us. Good luck and I hope you feel bettter soon.

Hopefully you are starting the diet, like yesterday. You may know already when you get to the office for your results.

Yep, I am continuing the gluten-free diet and trying to avoid most dairy products.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.
