Should I Be Scared About The Biopsy?

Yesterday I learned I'm going to be having a biopsy tomorrow--Is it incredibly painful, do you gag really bad or is there no need for worry?

My husband is out of town and I'd really like to get the diagnosis soon so I know...a friend is taking me :(

Hi Darcie and welcome :)

I was completely out for mine--and don't remember a thing after the IV went in. Some get a sore throat afterwards, but I didn't even get that.

It takes only a few minutes--try to relax, it's not bad at all.

I agree, try not to worry... it's really not bad at all.

I was under conscious sedation for mine, but I don't remember a thing after they put the IV in. I fell asleep. LOL!

It only took a few minutes, and then it took a while for me to wake up. Once I was awake, I went home and went about a totally normal day.

I didn't have a sore throat at all. It was an incredibly easy procedure.

Good luck!! =)

Hi Darcie,

I think most people have an experience with it that's better than they thought, I know mine was. I had a colonoscopy/endo same time and was nervous before. Before the nurse put the IV in she told me that most people wake up feeling like they have slept better than they had in years. That was definately my experience. I went home and had a completely normal day except feeling a little groggy. I did chores around the house and never napped that day. I also didn't feel like I had been through any procedures at all. I was not sore or felt like I had any procedure done at all.

You'll do fine. Try not to worry. It's really a very painless, quick procedure.

hey. Just relax your going to be fine, i didnt fall asleep in mine but i cant remember it anyway lol. Let the doctors do all the work and you'll be absolutely fine - theres really nothing to worry about.

Some people do get a sore throat but that goes away really quickly.

Mine was easy easy easy. The worst part was the anticipation. My son had one when he was 6, and came through it just fine, too. ;)Open Original Shared Linkthat a friend wrote up on another forum about her endoscopy. Maybe it will help put your mind at ease. You will most likely find that you have no memory of the procedure when it is over.

My dd just had hers a month ago. She was completely asleep and she wasn't hurting at all. When we got her back home, she was ready to run around with her sisters and her brother. We actually had to keep reminding her that she needed to rest for the rest of that day.

I had one 8 years ago, for other reasons, and I was completely asleep and felt normal.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
